You guys think things are bad now wait until you see how herm handles a backup qb. He gets even more conservative. Just ask brooks bollinger. He handcuffed him so bad. You would prob be better off just giving the ball to larry johnson.

With the exception of the drive that ended in a field goal, Bob Dole didn't consider last week's game all that "conservative".

I hate Herm Edwards. Well hate is a pretty strong word, I just wish he was screwing up someone else team but ours.

That's a pretty good idea no matter who your QB is.

He needs to get more conservative. Thats the only way we will win against Denver in Denver. Smash mouth the **** outta Denver. Thats the only way we stand a chance. Run run run playaction, run run run play action. rinse and repeat.

See the difference?

Hey NY....Difference here??? Bollinger drafted in 2003. 6th round.

Huard has been around with serveral teams. And didn't do that bad considering rain, were down 2 scores.
96 rating.

I say on passing downs just take three steps and dump to Tony. He's good for 8 yds nine times out of ten.

Hoobash,

We're going to need you to drive around North Camden after mindnight tonight on an empty tank of gas while yelling "I just won the lottery you scumbags".

K, thanks

Seriously, he did.

How about we direct snap to Larry Johnson. Occasionally, to keep defenses off track, LJ can hand off to Damon Huard for a pass. Then we can fake the LJ handoff to Huard and invent the play action run!

3 steps? Where is he going to get all that time?

One step and fling it out to whichever WR isn't being pressed.

Our WR's don't have the hands for that. They have to stop, turn towards the QB and catch it in the gut. Come on, man.

bollinger was not our backup, he was our 3rd, and really the equiv. of our 4th QB, as evidenced by our rush to get another once it was clear he would have to play for an extended time. you're not gonna have a marginal nfl talent (at best) come in and run your whole playbook.

much as i think herm was a bad coach for us, you can't point to his handling of bollinger or the team with bollinger as an example. that's actually a better example of herm's strength - he had bollinger playing his ass off, and the team (or what was left of it) playing hard for him. the guy was running around, pumping his fist, rallying guys. the losses to new england at home and miami on the road may be better examples than the win in buffalo or the 'thrown' game in oakland... the team was trying desperately to get bolly those wins...

That Herm chip on your shoulder must really suck.

What Herm did was get your team to the playoffs 3 of 5 years with poor talent and bad coordinators in a tough division. Too bad you couldn't enjoy the good through all the hate.

Without their warnings, I would have gone into this week thinking we wouldn't even miss Trent Green.

Really? He is going to keep a guy who has played once since 2000 on a short leash. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Huard probably needs to be on a short leash, he isn't very good. It is not Paul Hackett running this offense, we all knew how much he sucked long before the Jets brought him in...

where were you when we needed your warnings about hackett?!?!?

i agree with you guys here, i think my fellow jets fan is off base. the reasons herm did a poor job had nothing to do with the injury bug that bit us last season. i wouldn't be surprised if he has the team rallying behind huard. and has him on a short leash. what should he do, throw the ball 65 times? you'd have the element of surprise on your side there, i'll say that.

I'm beginning to agree with this. I'm all for tolerant mods, but having to sort through 3 or 4 threads like this each day is really getting old. So count me in as a vote to ban Jets trolls on sight from here on.

We were just in too much shock to even make coherent sentences...

...or we were laughing too hard to speak, can't remember which and probably a bit of both.

I still have nightmares about 3rd an 8 and then passing to Kimble Anders out of the backfield for the 538th time, and it still only getting 6 or 7 yards. God were we happy when he was gone.

Doesn't take a genius to figure out having the likes of a Brooks Bollinger or a Damon Huard winging the ball 40 times isn't the best way to win a game so of course the offense is going to become more conservative DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
