View Full Version : What Movie Are You Dead Sick Of ?

I am declaring jihad on Jaws, how many times a week do they need to show this movie. A couple of dishonorable mentions- Jerry MaGuire, ALL Lethal Weapons. I actually loved all of these at one point but enuff is enuff. These stations have gigantic libraries, do they have to pull the same ones every time? Its a slow night and i felt like whining.

JAWS is just brilliant. The chemistry between Scheider, Shaw and Dryeyfuss is perfect. It will never get old for me.

Jerry MaGuire and the Lethal Weapon flicks I love, but i have to agree with you that TBS and TNT wear them out.

Groundhog Day.

Great film, but I don't think I've seen it spammed more on my satellite channels. I will not watch it. I've seen it at least 6 or 7 times over the last 10 years.

Also, it seems some channel is always showing cheesy disaster flicks like "Twister", "Volcano", or that A&E "SuperVolcano", and "Armageddon" damn tired of it.

There are some old stand-by's like Terminator or Predator and Fast Times at Ridgemont High that i rarely pass up, but even those dont seem to be on 1/2 as much as those other 3. My ex used to work for the local FOX affiliate and got to pick the movies and i got to look at the catalogue and help and its just amazing how many forgotten old gems never get on. Just another tired ride on the Riggs&Murtaugh train.

I was pretty impressed by it. Great dialogue, and a delightful number of classical allusions. I also loved the irony of making Winston Smith (John Hurt in the 1984 version of 1984) "Big Brother".

Cobra's awful, but the car rocks. Also, it has one of Stallone's greatest lines:

BAD GUY (with a bomb in a grocery store): Man, I'll blow this place up!
STALLONE: That's allright. I don't shop here.

You guys have me intrigued with V now, its a Wachowski bro's flick right? I guess i just thought after the junk that was the last 2 Matrix films that it was gonna blow and they were just cashin' in on their rep. They sure do like Hugo Weaving dont they? If nothing else it'll be good for Natalie Portman.......to this day i truly regret dumping her.

They wrote it and produced it...but didnt direct it. But it has the feel of one of their flicks. Its a thinking mans action flick.

Plus, one of the brothers is now a woman...they have a real fetish for Lesbian undercurrents.

What a supporting cast... the Legendary Topol, Max von Sydow, Timothy Dalton, and Richard (Riff-Raff) O' Brien.

How the hell did that ever make it out of production. It made "Battle Beyond the Stars" (Cormans rehash of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai) look visionary.

That film lost me slightly before the scene involving the satirical TV show with Benny Hill -ish touches. That scene finished the job of disconnecting me from the movie. Coupled with the weak ending I'd rate it as a good rent but not a must see.

It was, for obvious reasons, a favorite among Kansans...until, that is, we got sick of all the tired, overused, cliché references.
