I am planning another trip to Vegas within the next 4-6 weeks..
I have been there 6 times and have always stayed at the Mirage..I like the location..But unfortunately since Steve Wynn sold the Mirage to MGM it has gone downhill considerably..And as a matter of fact it sucks!!

Does anybody have any recomendations on good hotels near that area on the strip???

Any info is appreciated

The big pyramid thingy looks cool. Try that one.

Whenever I have the misfortune of having to go to that rathole, I always stay at the Bellagio.

Bellagio is the way to go. It is kinda stuffy tho'. If you're rowdy, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Flamingo is the best "cheap" hotel on the strip. The pool there is a frigging par-tay! :thumb:

Yeah just stay at the Flamingo or Oriental Palace.. I mean your going to be in Vegas and out and about no sitting in your hotel room..why waste your money on an expensive room in the bellagio?

It doesn't matter where you stay. Just go to the bar closest to the casino at midnight. For $200.00 you'll feel like a king.

Heh..I get that for free!!!

And..you should walk the gauntlet(between ceasars and the mirage)between 4-6 am..you will encounter a bevy of beauties on the strip ;)

I don't go out when I go to Vegas unless I have to. I just stare at that stupid fountain, and count the seconds until I can leave.

The Bellegio and Venetian are the two best in the middle of the strip where most of the action is at....If money is no issue definitely stay there....Never stay at Caesars unless it is free or close to it due to some deal...They still charge as if they are the premiere joint on the strip yet the place is a dump compared to the two mentioned above. All the rooms in the Venetian are suites and as nice as it gets.

The Imperial Palace use to be my favorite for a clean, quality room on the cheap that is also right in the middle of the strip. However it has been bought by Harrah's this past year and I don't know if it is still the best cheap deal in that area or not...for that matter I don't even know if it is still standing as Harrah's might have leveled it by now.

Whether you stay at the Bellagio or not definitely go over there to their buffet restaurant...unbelievable food at a very reasonable price for what they make available. Seems like it is about $12 for breakfast and around $18 for dinner...Well worth it. One time I was in there for dinner and they had top of the line king crab legs......but get this part.....already sawed down the middle. No work, just pick up and devour....Butter dipped crab legs are awesome but as most of you know they are a huge pain in the ass to crack and eat. Messy, hard work and don't get a lot of meat when all said and done...Well this was unlimited with zero work....Probably ate about 3lbs of crab meat that night.

i just got back from vegas (lost my ass but thats a different story) but anyways we stayed at caesars because we got discounts on the rooms, and the rooms werent bad but the casino is a joke. WAAAAAY too busy, too crowded and just a pain in the ass.
Whenever I go i usually stay at the Monte Carlo. Probably the most underrated place on the strip by far. Cheap rooms, cheap tables, friendly dealers, good times all around. Flamingo is cool too because of the pools (and the girls in the pools) but everything else sucks. stick to those two

One other nice perk about the Imperial Palace that is now taken away from us is they had the hottest waitresses by a bunch. It took me a few years to figure out why this little low tier joint would have better chics than the high dollar joints but later found out they were the only non-union casino left. So they were able to get rid of any waitresses that started breaking down and getting old. All the other union casino's is where you will see some hotties but you will also see plenty of the old tired one's that have no business being squeazed into those outfits. Now that Imperial Palace was bought out by Harrah's that will no longer be the case.

Just another reason to dislike unions...:D

Speaking of MGM, I know it's further away from where you wanted to stay, but if you sign up for their Player's Club online, you can get some pretty good room deals; usually under $100 per night.

It was right next to Harrah's....The right side of Harrahs if you are facing it...Pretty much straight across from Ceasars. It might also be dirt at this point however.

I just checked my email and they sent me an offer last week for $69/$89 (weekdays/weekends/) per night for November through January. You have to be a players Club member to get these offers.

There are rumors of it's ultimate demise, but that isn't supposed to happen until sometime in 2007/2008. I can vouch for Imperial Palace as well. It's not the most luxurious hotel around but the rooms are clean and cheap. It's definitely the best value around considering it's location. We have stayed there our last two visits.

I always used to stay at the Westward Ho when I used to go out there. It is one of the smaller, more laid back casinos on the strip. The rooms were nice and it wasn't too overcrowded like the bigger casinos. I doubt you'll be spending too much time in the hotel, so I wouldn't worry so much about which one you stay in, as long as it's on the strip. You can take the trolleys for a few dollars and they will take you up and down the strip.

I also liked the sports book at the Stardust the best. IIRC, they used to be the casino that came out with the first lines for games.

Bob Dole always prefers to stay off the strip. Main Street Station used to have a nice microbrewery (don't know if it still does) and up north Texas Station usually had good bands playing.

The Westward Ho is now the Westward No. It was leveled last year.

Damn, I didn't know that. I guess it's been a few years since I've been in Vegas. Too bad they didn't level that wedding chapel across the street next to the Riviera where I got married. :)

Never stayed at the Venetian. But had lunch there and happened to see a fund raising Super-Model show hosted by Robyn Leach. Very nice place.

if you're just getting a regular room, they're all pretty much the same, it just depends on which location you'd prefer
