Contained Larry Johnson. Let's not kid ourselves, his numbers were inflated, he didn't have a Larry Johnson game...not his fault, the 49ers focused on shutting down the run and Huard looked like Joe friggin' Montana...

So props to the 49ers!

150 yards and 2 touchdowns, that's not really what I call containment.

I know his stats, buddy...

but to say the 49ers didn't contain him is false. Come on...

He didnt have an LJ game in the 1ST HALF Hootie. A $01 and 2TD's kills this thread.

Oh, it qualifies as containment. In a Chernobyl/China Syndrome kind of way.....

LJ's on my FF team. I'm anxious to see what he does when someone doesn't contain him.

Guys...

do you honestly think LJ had a LJ type game? Seriously?

If so...wow.

Hootie

sometimes I don't know what you people watch.

On paper, he had a GREAT game...but if you actually watched the fuggin' game, he had more 1, 2 and negative yard runs than I've ever seen from him. The 49ers did a good job in that respect.

I think props go to Huard, the O-line, and Johnson. Our conservative offense scored 34 points today. Huard stepped up knowing that LJ was a marked man. The o-line pass-blocked well for Huard. And LJ was a warrior. He earned every yard he gained today. His hard running was one of the keys to our offensive gameplan.

Mostly, props to the defense. The 49ers have done pretty well on offense so far this year. The defense looks like it might finally be for real.

Guys...

do you honestly think LJ had a LJ type game? Seriously?

If so...wow.He started slow and improved as the game wore on. Pretty common for LJ, and most backs.

On the radio they said he fell akwardly, and didn't quite look the same afterward. I think he was a little dinged up, and played through it.

Hootie
10-01-2006, 03:42 PM
I think the LJ factor was the reason Huard played so well. In that respect, LJ had a great game. 34 touches is awesome...however, running the ball, he had an average game, at best...mainly because the 49ers guessed run every friggin' time.

how is that common for LJ!? He had 100 rushing yards at 3 friggin' times IN THE FIRST HALF of games last year. That's starting slow? God damn people...

I didnt even have to see the game to see that as much as Whiners WHOLE PLAN centered on stopping Superman , he stillgoes for 101 and 2 touches.

thanks for telling me his stats, honestly, before starting this thread I didn't realize he had 142 total yards and 2 TD's.

Oh actually, I did. THAT DOESN'T ****ING MEAN ANYTHING IF YOU WATCHED THE GAME.

Shit, Brees had 400 yards passing and a TD and he had a shitty game.

I may be wrong but I think the last "worst defeat in 49ers history" was the 44-9 stomping the Chiefs gave them back in the '97 at Arrowhead.

Their plan was to stop LJ...

They forgot about Huard.

Huard plays amazingly.

Chiefs win by 41.

he looked good at the very end of the 3rd quarter, and the few series he played in the 4th...

Other than that, the 49ers totally shut him down.

Hootie
10-01-2006, 03:52 PM
and by the time LJ started gaining yards, the game was already long over.

I'm LJ's biggest fan, all I'm saying is the 49ers did do a good job against him. Probably the best I've seen in all honesty (of course LJ has really never had a bad game when he has started)...

Usually, if you execute your gameplan, you win the game.

The 49ers 'executed', and lost by 41...

I made a thread to mock the 49ers...but a lot of you are to dense to understand, apparently.

34 touches, 142 yd, 2 TD

3.4 yards per carry

4.2 yards per touch

54 yards in the first half

87 yards in the second half

54 yards at halftime blows I guess?

3.5 ypc is nothing too special, but if you get his normal 25 carries per game that still puts you right around 100 rushing yards.

On offense the gameplan of the 41-0'ers was to have the OL hold Tamba, I think they did that well.

Hootie is right.

The 9ers gameplan on defense was to contain LJ, and they did that.

He had a couple of big plays on pass receptions in the first half, and a couple of good runs in the second half, but overall, he was bottled up pretty good by the 9ers defense.

The Chiefs did today what they should have done last week.
They ran the play action pass on first and second down plays, and took advantage of a defense stacked to stopp LJ.

It was an outstanding game plan by the Chiefs, and executed nearly flawlessly by Huard.

In executing that game plan, they also took the pressure off of the OTs, and Huard rarely was pressured by the 9ers, who didn't get a sack.

He hurt himself on the first series, and didn't run with power until the second half. Maybe they did something for the pain at half-time.

I have not heard or watched any post-game coverage, though. maybe I was just seeing things.
