On MSNBC they have an eyewitness, vice president of NBC news who happened to see it... said she heard an odd noise, looked up, believed it was a helicopter... and it was coming "down" into the building. She said it didn't look like the craft was aiming full-speed ahead at the building or anything, that it just kinda "came down" and crashed into the building.

CNN is reporting that NORAD is now sending up fighter jets to monitor air traffic over many US cities. They seem to stress that they don't believe this was terrorist related, but a precautionary measure.

The Nebraska Song Lyrics

by Sawyer Brown

Well I came up from Goodland, Kansas
I turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stay

It's been my dream all my life
To play football on this field
And if I ever get the chance
I'll make you this deal

I'll work hard I'll do my part
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weight

Hey there Mr. Osborne
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be a honor sir
To call you coach someday

Here in the middle of the middle west
We ain't afraid to fight
Well I've looked to you sir
Now I'll look you in the eye

Well I hear something calling me
Like I've never heard before
It's a red and white freight train
And I wanna get on board

I'll work hard I'll do my part
You won't hear me complain
I'll never go down easy
I swear I'll pull my weight

Hey there Mr. Osborne
I'll do anything to play
And it sure would be a honor sir
To call you coach someday

I came up from Goodland, Kansas
I turned eighteen today
I'm college bound for Lincoln
Nebraska's where I'll stay

That sounds cruel, but I'll admit I was just thinking that. At least how different things can affect what happens in your life I guess. If they'd just won some baseball games, he'd still be playing, would've had to be at the ballpark tonight, and never would've died. That's pretty weird.

The Pete Stoyonavich corollary:

Stoyo makes that kick against the Raiders, the chiefs win the division, and get to host the hapless Dolphins. Marino was terrible on the road in the playoffs. We most likely win that game go to Indianapolis to face Big Brother in his first NFL playoff game. Who knows if we win that game or not, but given Manning's history in the playoffs, it is highly likely. Tennessee probably beats Jax at Jax, as they did in the AFC Champ game that year. We most likely lose to Tennessee as they were a team of destiny with a better O and a better D and phenomenal luck, but Thomas is there instead of on the icy roads of KC.

That one bothered me for a long time, even with all the externalities.

Hideki Matsui Unable To Grasp Translator's Explanation Of Where Cory Lidle Is

October 19, 2006 | Issue 42•42

NEW YORK—Hideki Matsui's interpreter Roger Kahlon has been unable explain to the Yankees' Japanese-speaking left fielder that former teammate Cory Lidle died instantaneously last Wednesday after flying his four-seat, SR20 aircraft into a high-rise apartment building in Manhattan's Upper East Side. "At this point, I'm pretty sure [Matsui] thinks Lidle is either in his four-bedroom apartment or on a 20-minute plane ride to upstate New York," Kahlon said, adding that in order to make Lidle's whereabouts clear to Matsui, he has even resorted to making one of his hands into a plane, the other into a building, crashing them together, and making explosion noises. "This kind of thing just doesn't translate very well." According to Kahlon, the last time he asked Matsui where Cory Lidle was, a confused Matsui answered, "The bullpen."
