Lets go Red Birds!!!

Please stop helping the Mets!!!!!

'Hamas' Jenkins

Glavine did a nice job staying on the outside corner in the first inning.

I know a lot of people don't like Joe Buck, but as a Cards fan, it's nice to hear him doing a Redbirds game again.

Cliff Floyd needs a walker in left.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-12-2006, 06:40 PM
Typical Jim Edmonds playoff at bat. Hack at the first pitch so the opposing team's bench doesn't get too cold.

2112
10-12-2006, 06:41 PM
If thats the way the Cardinals are going to be working the count against Glavine,he should have 75 pitches by the 8th inning

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-12-2006, 06:45 PM
That's why I could care less if Edmonds comes back next year. He's a liability against playoff pitching.

'Hamas' Jenkins

Not when he hit the game winning homer against the Stros in 2004 in game 6 of NLCS. Has done a lot of not a lot since then though.

I'm glad you brought that up, because that Homer was off Qualls IIRC, and he was a scrub that year.

1 hit in the WS on a bunt. Getting thrown out at a pivotal moment in the LCS last year.

The best thing he's done since then is draw a walk against Lidge to get Pujols up.

I'd watch "The Marine" if it was rated R, because it definitely has the potential to fall into the 80's action movie genre, but as PG-13, it's not going to be nearly as interesting....no decapitations, F-bombs, or gratuitous female nudity.

How disciplined of a hitter was Hal McRae?? We've lacked plate discipline for a while, even back to the Mitchell Page years (that dumb MF fell off the wagon in the world series of all places :banghead: )

I just wish he would teach a little more patient approach from our hitters.

It's been the M.O. on us for years. None of these guys are willing to hit to all fields (this is problematic for Albert in big spots). Yeah...but Glavine is so predictable. He started every batter off with two 86 mph fastballs on the outside part of the plate, then he'd nibble some more with with, and if the count reached 2-2, he'd throw inside.

Several of our hitters went up there with aggressive mindsets, and that's ok, but they were trying to pull pitches that every goddamned person on earth knew were going to be on the outside part of the plate. If they'd go with it, they could have run him out damned early.

FWIW, we also should have crowded the plate, but didn't do that either.

If Tony was a No-Limit hold'em player, he'd be the guy who made all the right moves through the whole tournament, and then, right before the final table, he'd end up pushing all in to chase an inside straight draw.

Just some epic mental breakdowns in game management...as always.

I predict Albert being pitched around for an unintentional intentional walk, Encarnacion flying out, and Rolen hitting into a game-ending doubleplay.

The Vegas odds on that wouldn't pay for shit.

Swept by the Padres? No way-Cards were one of the best teams in the league this year.

I said CHOKE because they forget how to swing a bat when it counts. Look what happened in 85.

Eh, what were they, 4 games over .500? They had the worst record of any of the 8 playoff teams.

Cards still have a fighting chance. Mets totally blew it tonight though.. had a chance to beat Carp and finish them, didn't do it. Now they go back to Busch, and I don't think the pitching matchups are in their favor. And they blew out their bullpen on a loss, with games the next 3 days. Cards could flip the tables tomorrow.

F*cking Grad School. I spent all night on a midterm due at midnight, finished at 11:30, and came home to watch the game on Tivo. I didn't have it set for long enough on the overrun, and missed from the bottom of the 8th on...what a great finish :banghead:

I will say that it is great for us to go up there and finally practice a patient approach. The mets don't have lights out pitchers, so we might as well battle and let themselves get in a hole rather than hacking right away.

Rolen needs to be a defensive replacement for the rest of the playoffs. He just doesn't have the 'stremf' in his shoulder right now.

Spiezio...what can you say other than :grovel:
