~ ~ • New York Jets WR Justin McCareins to Kansas City: It's been pretty obvious since training camp that Justin McCareins isn't a favorite of first-year coach Eric Mangini, and the sixth-year veteran has seen his playing time and, thus, his production, dramatically reduced. McCareins, 27, has just six receptions for 87 yards and no touchdowns. He started Sunday's game against Miami but did not register a catch. The Kansas City wide receiver corps is once again fairly mundane, and McCareins could lend a boost. Plus, he is familiar with Chiefs coach Herm Edwards, having played for him in New York. One huge stumbling block is McCareins' contract. He is signed through 2010 and, after this season, his base salaries average $2.96 million over the final four years of his deal.

Why trade for a guy with a salary like that who doesn't know the system and has had one above average year??

Gardner isn't the answer either,
getting retreads hoping for a diamond in the rough.

The salary will be a big problem with Lamar.

The guy is overrated..Herm and Bradway gave up a 2nd round pick to get him from the Titans..it was a bad trade..he sucks!!

thank you jankins, I agree. We can't keep thinking that simply throwing someone out there, like Snyder does for Washington, is going to work. He didn't thrive under Herm in NY and we isn't worth the risk here, geesus!

I thought Rod Gardner was the one who was supposed to "lend a boost"...

Kennison, Parker, Hall, Webb, and Gardner already on board...yeah, we really need another WR... :$2500:

He drew a PI penalty Sunday. What more do you want?

The Chiefs have been in on almost every trade rumor out there. I guess that just shows how many holes we have.

I like Webb and Gardner, just as soon see them play.

WR has to be a top priority in the offseason. The collection of #3s finally caught up to us once the O-Line went to crap.

I would think O-line is top priority. Our WRs were fine when Roaf was playing.

It wouldn't matter if we had Steve Smith and Randy Moss when he played correctly. We still won't be able to run the ball and we will still have a coach that won't pass it farther than 8 yards.

We need a good WR, but I don't think he's the guy and I think we should be miserly with our draft picks.

They're going to cut him after the season, so why bother?

Yeah I'm tired of them not playing Jeff Webb he had a crazy good preseason. Instead of bringing in all these fillers just start the people you know are good.

The only trades I heard rumors of availability I wouldn't have blown a gasket for were Jean-Giles, the rookie guard from GA now on the Eagles, or if we had traded for Leonard Davis. Davis is a G though, he sure ain't a LT.

We should have targeted Javon Walker in the off-season.
