I'm not sure I like this:

Royals | All coaches retained for 2007

The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton confirms the Kansas City Royals will retain their entire major-league coaching staff along with manager Buddy Bell for the 2007 season. The only change is a switch in base-coaching duties with Luis Silverio moving from third to first, and Brian Poldberg going from first to third. All other responsibilities remain intact.

Dayon thinks is a good idea and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. I think he knows that its going to take some time before the Royals really turn it around, and Bell will be a decent manager until we're really ready to compete. Its been posted on here before, and I agree, that even though Bell isn't very good, its also not good to constantly change the manager just for the sake of change.

I agree with all your points and I have no real problem with Bell as the manager

but I gotta think we could get some better assistants... IMO

Why should they replace anybody, just because they had the worst record in all of professional sports. Surely it had nothing to do with the coaching staff!

There is no logic in bringing back everyone who contributed to another 100 loss season.

They are just setting themselves up to have to fire Bell early in the season next year, then we're looking for a manager in June like we do everytime we get a new manager.

I don't think Bell is particularly terrible, but he isn't great either...

I would really like to see us make a run at Girardi even though he would never take the job

or even Frank White!

Dosn't matter who coaches them team in 07. They're gonna suck ass to the tune of 90+ losses anyway you cut it. 08? I could see a change at that point.

The success or failure of a team ultimately comes down to the talent of the players on the field. And the talent of major leaguers ultimately comes down to who manages and coaches them through the minors. If Moore's plan to resurrect our minor league system works, then the Royals will eventually win, whether it's Bell in the dugout or not. Either way, it probably won't be next year.

And the fact is, the team did play pretty good ball from June to season's end, although they were the proverbial guy bringing a knife to a gunfight.
