The Big East is a joke.

I know ESPN is supposed to hype it, but come on... if Louisville goes undefeated and gets an invite to the NC game, the BCS will go to a whole new level of ridiculousness.

It's a little better than it was.......Louisvilles fun to watch and would beat alot of good teams......

Louisville is good and WVU is decent, but they aren't NC material.... and the rest of the conference isn't nearly what ESPN would like it to be. Rutgers is 8-0 by playing UConn and USF, and they're #15 in the nation? I don't even have to make fun of their opponents by saying they've played St Mary's Sisters of the Blind because it's UConn & USF. I'd really be surprised if this is kept within 30, and then ESPN can look forward to the Big East basketball season.

Yeah, and MVC teams wouldn't stand a chance against power conference schools either.

I know we're in the age where "anyone can beat anyone" in pretty much every sport, but some teams don't just get up for a big game once a year against some ranked team that's probably looking past them.... they have to get up for a ranked team almost every Saturday.

I'm not one of those people that are blind to parity, and the argument is more about the system and who deserves to play for the NC rather than just wanting to say the Big East sucks. Like Lou Holtz said, had Texas chosen not to play Ohio State, they could be playing for the NC... There are 3 Big East teams in the top 15, and one could play for the NC, even though there are 1 loss teams more deserving... Texas' only loss being to OSU, Florida's to Auburn, Auburn's to Arkansas, Arkansas' to USC, and possibly Michigan/OSU to OSU/Michigan.

Normally, I wouldn't consider the Big East very good either, but WV is pretty damn good. Heck, they beat the SEC champs 35-3 in the bowl game last year. I figure if Louisville beat them and goes undefeated, they might as well get a shot. The whole BCS thing is bogus anyways. There are probably 8-12 teams that could be considered NC quality teams.

Every year it seems like after the 8th spot in the BCS, the points start to really drop off... (right now, Notre Dame is #9 at .73, and #10 WVU is .56)... which is why an 8 team (or even 10 or 12 w/ byes) playoff makes way too much sense :banghead:

UWV/Georgia was a lot closer than that... unless I'm thinking of another game?

Louisville should deserve a NC shot if they go undefeated. Their opponents, outside of Big East, were solid opponents.

Miami, despite that they're getting shittier
K-State

He's saying they schedule teams with names on them they didn't know they were going to suck when they scheduled them 4 years ago....

Don't worry though man Florida is never winning anything with Chris Leak under center. He never came close to living up to his recruitment hype.

Louisville played a decent OOC

Kentucky - close to bowl eligiable from the SEC
Miami
Kansas State - bowl eligiable
West Virginia
Rutgers

They are good enough team to be considered for the NC game IMO. They would be even better if they hadnt lost Michael Bush.

I don't see how a schedule like that can matchup to a schedule of:

Florida - Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida State

Auburn - Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Alabama

USC - California, Arkansas, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska

Texas - OSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, A&M

OSU - Texas, PSU, Iowa, Michigan

Michigan - OSU, Notre Dame, Iowa, PSU

Notre Dame - Georgia Tech, PSU, Michigan, USC

The schedules of all the Big East teams just don't compare.

Well, it's sure as hell better than playing some scrub I-AA teams, don't you think?

Not to mention, K-State and Miami both probably will be bowling come December/January. Also, they played against Kentucky who is all-right.

The only downside I see is having Temple on the list there.

You are a ND fan, you have no right to ever complain about overrated teams.do you know what it is like ti win 12 national championships? Notre Dame does. Notre Dame is barely a top ten team this year, but show some respect boy.

Why not Domer???if one soft team beats another soft team, should the winning soft team play for the championship? 2 soft teams that play in a soft conference that feeds on barely division one non conference opponents. Ohio State/Michigan should be up against a real team for the championship, not a team that hides behind the the rulebook set up by the bcs.

Whatever the ranking is, Rutgers should be higher than WVU and Louisville.

That's all great and dandy, but when was the last recent NC championship ND won?

Too long ago. If ND want's respect, they'll have to earn it. How? By getting in and winning the National Championship.

I don't think the Notre Dame crowd will let you drop below them. They have some power in this. So settle for eleven right now.

I understand your point..but..thats the way things have been for a while now..and..had the shoe been on the other foot..I'm pretty sure I would be hearing nothing from you right now my friend..

To try and make it seem that Rutgers is inferior just because of that reasoning is not fair

By getting in and winning the National Championship.1988. too long ago agreed. they need to earn it too. when was the last championship the Chiefs won? 1969. does that mean they are not a great team? not at all. If the Chiefs went 9-0 against the NFLE, should we give them loads of respect too? if they beat another nfl team that was undefeated against NFLE, what does that mean?

To try and make it seem that Rutgers is inferior just because of that reasoning is not fairthe only one to blame is the ncaa. they value undefeated more than tested. they reward teams for going undefeated regardless of who they play. it is actually silly for an AD to schedule a quality opponent under the current rules. one word...PLAYOFF.
