Green to return to practice on Tuesday

Trent Green's stay on the sidelines is officially over.

The Chiefs Pro Bowl quarterback told FOXSports.com Tuesday evening that he has been cleared by doctors to return to practice, which he'll do tomorrow.

"They gave me full clearance," Green said in his first interview after being cleared late Tuesday. "I haven't spoken to coach yet about it so I don't know what my role will be but I'm ready to do whatever they need."

When asked if he has any trepidation about getting a hit, Green sounded confident in the amount of time he was given to heal.

"I have no concerns at all, none," he said. "I've felt pretty good the last few weeks. The organization really handled it great. They let me take my time and they covered all the bases. Nobody ever tried to rush me back in. They all made sure I was right before allowing me to do too much."

Green says he has no idea how much or when he'll play. He is expected to meet with Edwards and Damon Huard in the morning to discuss their gameplan.

"The last few weeks, the way they've eased me in allowing me to gradually do more and more, have really helped me," he said. "I've actually felt pretty good these last three weeks."

The former Pro Bowler has missed the last eight games with his concussion, sustained in the third quarter of the opener against the Bengals.

I think Herm's decision isn't whether Green is better than Huard, but whether he wants to put Green behind that line.

Well, Herm did say today, that he has no concerns putting Trent in there. I know thats coachspeak, but hey, he said it. lol

Adam Shefter said if Green didn't start, he'd still get some playing time. He also said that the Chiefs almost let him play a little in the Miami game.

This is true, but here's the way I think (should IMHO) it'll go. Early on, it could be max protection to get him in a groove. Once he establishes that, then I think the max protection will slowly disappear.

Of course, in Trent's case the butterflies probably won't go away until he gets sacked, and that he gets right back up. But I'm just speculating.

Of course, the team usually plays better at Arrowhead, which can help as well.

Shefter was, at one time, a fairly reliable source for info.
Since joining NFL Network, he has become nearly as useless as Peter King.

I had a bad dream last night. Green was back in and playing, and then he got hit and went down hard.

You know Mission Impossible III? You know the little micro-nukes they put inside their heads? You remember the way that chick's eyes looked at the beginning when her micro-nuke detonated?

In my dream, Green's eyes looked exactly the same. It was awful.

If he is back We can open up the offense as much as Herm is willing to. I'm sure we'll start the game slow like usual but once he warms up and gets in some kind of groove He knows the playbook better than Herm.

And frankly, Herm needs to give him about as much decision making ability as Marty did Montana...

Our record would be the same w/ or w/o Trent. Having him come in now and expect him to perform to the level he was at before the injury would be nothing short of miraculous.

This team is a little bit short of being a playoff team once again.

It appears that 10-6 may not be good enough and getting to 10-6 is probably a stretch anyway. It's too bad that we have become so inconsistent on the offensive side of the ball. Even with the holes on our OL, it is quite apparent that Herm and Solari are not up to the challenge to equal or exceed what DV/AS was able to do on Offense.
They have done a great job on D, but our O has declined too much for it to make a difference.
