Richardson could be out for year
Vikings fullback has broken thumb, fractured forearm
Wednesday November 15, 2006 2:34PM

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Struggling on offense, the Minnesota Vikings have likely lost their fullback, Tony Richardson, for the rest of the season.

Richardson played with a broken thumb in Sunday's game against Green Bay and then suffered a fracture in his forearm. The latest injury will probably keep Richardson out for six weeks, and there are only seven games left. That means there is a strong chance that Richardson will be placed on injured reserve this week, coach Brad Childress said Wednesday.

A valuable, popular veteran who signed with Minnesota as a free agent this year after playing 11 seasons with Kansas City, Richardson has been an important part of the game plans because of his ability to block, catch the ball out of the backfield and even run it certain short-yardage situations.

Reserve tight end Jeff Dugan will see some time in his place, and tight end Jim Kleinsasser is also a possibility. The Vikings were scanning the waiver wire for potential replacements, too.

Man if the Chiefs starting offense from the past few seasons had a reunion they'd all have to come in bodybags practically

That sucks. Tony was the man, represented the Chiefs very well for a great many years.
