Lucky? He placed that ball to Kennison in the perfect spot and zipped the other right between Parker's 1 and 8. What you're forgetting is that Trent is the leader of this team, and the entire team views him as the leader. That's big. He could've thrown for 50 yards yesterday and he's still the voice and leader of the team. Herm knows that, the team knows that... everybody views him as the leader and they trust him. That's the biggest difference between this and Grbac/Bledsoe and everybody else. Trent has the 100% respect of the locker room, coaching staff, and front office.

If you do not believe leadership is important to a football team, then you have the right to think that, but that's kind of a different argument. That's what this argument is. There's no doubt Huard played well, but at the end of the day it came down to intangibles, respect and leadership. Herm can't say that because he doesn't want to cut Huard down, but that's really how it is.
