View Full Version : How much sleep do you get a night?

I seem to be sleeping less and less. And, when I do, it's broken sleep. I've gotten to where I wake up 3-4 times a night. I think it's just because I always seem to have a lot on my mind.

Anyway, how much sleep do you need to get a night in order to feel good the next day?

I usually go to bed at 2:30-3:30AM, wake up anywhere from 6:30-7:30, then wake up about ever hour after that.

I sleep pretty solid between 1am & 6am. My wife leaves the house EVERY morning at 4:55am to go workout and I never hear her leave. However, my kids start bouncing off the walls at 6am, and I never fail to hear that...........

On average I would say I actually sleep for about 5 hours a night.

One night a week, usually Saturday, I'll get about 7 hours.

Two nights a week, it's about 5 or 6.

Two nights a week, it's about 4 or 5.

Two nights a week, it's about 3 or 4.

Those last two are the tough ones. I'm kind of stupid, because every Sunday without fail I'm up till 3:00 a.m. and have to get up at 6:00. I simply can't go to bed on Sunday nights for some reason.

I have always required a lot of sleep. Usually conk out somewhere between 9 and ten, get up around 5. My Dad always said, if you can't sleep, you have a guilty concious.

I'm an eight hour guy. Jenny is on the five-six hour side so it's always a tug-war-between us on nights that we are together.

I have sleep apnea, so probably like 20 minutes of real sleep a night.

Hopefully you can just shut the door to your room and it doesn't bother you when she gets up and leaves hers.

I have always been a light sleeper and wake 3-4 times a night. The slightest sounds wake me. Even as a kid sleep has alway been a struggle. 5 hours on average.

If the reason I wasn't getting enough sleep was because of a lot of good sex, I wouldn't be as tired but since its not i'm kind of dragging ass.

Exercise = Better Sleep

I usually wake up at 5:30 (my normal workday time) even if it's a Sunday and was out drinking until 2 am. It must be an internal clock or something. Normally I get about 6 hours of decent sleep.

I go to bed early during the week (around 9) because I get up around 5 for work. I'm lucky if I sleep to the alarm clock. I learned years ago that I'm not a good sleeper and even went to specialists to help. I tried everything but still can't sleep all night long. I don't even care anymore but I have considered buying one of those special memory foam mattresses. That way, I can sleep my 5 hours and still feel refreshed.

I get about 2-3 hours a night. Its been like that for some time now. Whats really bad is falling asleep, and then having a telemarketer call at freakin 8:50pm...when you have your number on the do not call list.

Night terrors?
I don't generally remember my dreams. I don't think I've ever had night terrors. I've had a few nightmares that scared the shit out of me though. I've had three or four occasions in the last two-three weeks where I've woke up crying. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was due to not being able to help someone. Like they were out of reach or the ability to help was beyond my control.

You shouldn't hate it. You sound like you're pretty good at it.

Monday through Friday I sleep about 4 hours a night. I go to sleep at 2:00 AM and wake up at 6:00 AM. I sleep 12-13 hours on Saturday though. Usually on Sunday's too, but now that there is Chiefs games every week at noon, I don't get much sleep Saturday night.

I've learned you don't actually need sleep. When I got hired a few months ago, I started sleeping 4 hours a night. It kicked my ass for about 2-3 weeks, but now I feel fine. I'm never tired at work anymore. You just have to get used to it. Not eating makes me tired alot more than not sleeping.

That may actually be my problem. I ate like three meals all weekend. I'm averaginf two a day this week. Maybe I'm not tired, but just drained of energy.

I would say during the week anywhere from 6-4 hours. Sunday and Monday nights of this week were pretty rough. I got almost 4 hours of sleep. Went to bed a 2:30, got up around 6:20 for school.

I get usually 7 to 8 hours and then I can barely get out of bed. I don't get up because I want to. I could sleep through a train in my room.

I would prefer to sleep more, but than I feel like a bum.

If I exercise and meditate like I should 6 hours of sleep is just right. I sleep like a baby and wake up before the alarm feeling fully refreshed.

When I do NOT behave I need 8 to 9 and will have to be woken up.

I very rarely wake up in the middle of the night. When I was about 6 I had a hail storm bust out the window that my bed was under. Then my parents came into my room and took me to their room. When I woke up in the morning I didn't know why I was in their room because I never woke up through the rain, pounding hail, breaking glass, etc.

I think it was Skip that was talking about falling out of a bunk bed and sleeping through it. Some of us it's more like a mini-coma than sleep.

I haven't been able to sleep restfully since doing service for uncle sam over 30 years ago; 4 to 6 hours total and that's with white noise to mask the small sounds.

7 to 10 hours a night. I love naps too.

I love sleepin'. In fact I'm a world class sleeper. I love to wake up at 3 AM and realize that I still have 3 or 4 more hours to go.

Between 6-8 most days and i ALWAYS gotta have a fan on summer, winter, whenever. I dont think i could sleep without it. I used to be able to sleep in until 10 or 11 on weekends but the older i get the harder it is to get away with.
