Just under an hour to kickoff......

Obviously a HUGE game for USC. Win and there's a trip to Glendale with your name on it. Lose, and in all probability Michigan gets the nod.

As much as I hate to say it, I think USC wins this game and covers. (-7)

My Irish haven't shown me that they can stop elite receivers, and tonight they face 2. IF, and a big if, they can keep Jarrett and Smith in check, then ND has a real shot at this game.

It's a huge rivalry and I hope ND is fired up to play, even though they have zero chance of jumping Michigan even with a blowout win. Looks like the Sugar Bowl win or lose.....

Good luck Mecca and the other USC fans......

GO IRISH!!

I just got out of the shower and back from the store......I was off getting refreshments.

I expect a pretty good game, USCs defense while very good is full of young players, I'm not real sure about covering but I give USC the nod by being at home and well we haven't lost at home in 5 years.

I guess considering the way this thing started, I should feel pretty good. Several key drops from Rhema McKnight in key situations and some retarded playcalling is keeping this from being a much closer game.

Well, it is what it is......

USC came to play and ND didn't. Too many missed opportunities early, and when Ndukwe left the game, it was even easier for USC to move the ball.

I guess the silver lining is that it doesn't really change anything for ND regarding the BCS, they'll still play in either the Rose or the Sugar, but having a month to get ready and get Quinn healthy should help. They have a month to stew about this game, and it should have them pretty fired up for January.

Barring a complete meltdown, USC will get their shot. While I hope it's a good game, I can't see ANYONE derailing OSU.

Lloyd Carr is really loving the BCS right about now, isn't he?

It's just pure horseshit if USC gets a spot in the National Championship over Michigan.

Michigan's sole loss was by 3 points to the Number 1 team.

USC's sole loss was by 10 to unranked Oregon State.

Shit, what else do you need to say?

I'm not a Michigan fan by any stretch of the imagination, but this is just wrong. :shake:

Look at it this way: If there's a rematch, it means Ohio State has to beat Michigan twice to win the title, while Michigan only has to beat OSU once. Is that fair?

Fact is, nothing's gonna be fair w/out a true playoff.

Like it'd be fair if OSU's only loss came in their final game, and the National Champion's only loss came to an unranked team?

You're right, without a playoff, it's retarded. OSU has everything to lose. Whoever plays them has nothing to lose....

Yes, you can slice it a thousand different ways, it all adds up to ... well, it doesn't add up, is what I'm saying. That's why, IMO, we need a playoff. But you keep hearing that this debate is what the I-A gurus want -- they don't want it settled. I think that's moronic to the point of being untrue, but it won't die.

2 not 10......USC was going for the 2 to tie with about 10 seconds left in that game......

Michigan had their shot they lost, I don't want to see a rematch when it involves 2 teams in the same conference that just played. That's really not fair to OSU when they just played them.

OSU will not blowout USC.....this was suppose to be USC's down year and they could possibly win the title.

I just don't think Michigan is good enough to beat OSU so I don't wanna see it again, especially when they are from the same conference you should have to win your conference to play for the NC.

Eh, had they played in the first game of the season everyone would want a rematch... if the top two teams happen to play in the same conference, so be it. Too bad they don't have a conference championship... it could be the best out of 3 :D

What's sad is that USC jumped 5 spots when they beat a ranked Oregon... had Oklahoma not been screwed by the refs (there's an article on espn.com today about the screwup), Oregon has no quality wins, isn't ranked, and it's just another weak Pac-10 victory for USC. The fact that matters sums up the BCS.

Also, you can't say OSU "had to win twice" to win a NC. Had they lost by 3 they would be #2 right now. It's just like had they played in October... both teams can make adjustments or whatever, but it's not like they had something to hide. Both teams knew what was at stake before, and both would in January. There's nothing unfair about it.

Sorry, I'm a little bitter when it comes to high draft picks. It seems like the same shitty teams get the best players every year and they never get any better. Perhaps someone with a better attitude can help with your question.

Their shot came AT Columbus, not on a neutral field. Home field advantage is an undeniable major factor in football games. If that game is played in Ann Arbor, Michigan probably wins. On a neutral field - who knows?

And again, you have no rebuttal for quality of competition in these teams' sole losses.

I just don't want to see this rematch it might be a feasable idea of the 2 teams weren't from the same conference, that to me is the biggest sticking point.

When they played they knew what was at stake. They both knew that the loser likely wouldn't play for the NC. OSU won to me that knocks Michigan out.
