Which modern convenience in your home would you be willing to give up from Monday, 11/26 thru midnight Sunday 12/02?

Discuss.

Does giving up TV mean giving up watching video that I've downloaded on my computer?

Does giving up a car mean include giving up riding on the bus?

TV: No broadcasts on computer.
CAR: riding the bus is OK.

See, we ran out of paper towels last night and it was like the end of the world!

I didn't realize how many times we use them. To dry our hands, wipe something up, put some snacks in, etc. etc. etc.

Our dog barfed on the kitchen floor this morning and it took me a minute to find a rag I was willing to sop it up with and toss.
No paper towels :shake:

Laptop. I spend to much time on it anyway.

Couldn't you just go to the store and buy more paper towels? Did I miss the news of a paper towel embargo?

I would choose to do without a 24k modem. That is all.

That was too easy, I have a woodburning stove in my basement and a fireplace upstairs. Just my little way of saying **** you to the petroleum industry.

Now if you had said A/C instead of heat and used a summer time frame, that would have made this poll much more difficult.

I should have added beer to the poll.

I voted for home computer. A week without porn would do me some good. :D

should have put a phone on the list instead of heat.

I see you've been taking classes at the Mr. Rain Man School For Pollsters. This thing has way too many dang rules.

Nevertheless, I choose computer. Sans fridge, my icecream bars would melt. Sans TV, I could not watch icecream bar commercials. Sans car, I could not purchase more icecream bars. Sans water, I could not wash icecream bar off my face. Sans heat, I would feel very much like an icecream bar.

Now, now. There's nothing wrong with setting rules. That's what separates us from the animals (other than ants).

I would go without television. It's the only thing on the list that would improve my quality of life if it was gone.

Astute points, Mr. Fax and Mr. Rainman.
I was going to mention this was a Rainman-esque poll, but not enough options to qualify. I think the minumum is 12.

Heat seems the most easily accommodated in my case.

I would bet that most of you who chose heat don't have kids. Or, small kids.

I could give up home computing for a month without much pain.

I've done it before, but I've got no motivation to do it now.

Besides, I've got a back door. I'm on the computer 9 hours a day at work. I think thats what makes it easier to stay off the box at home.

I do. When he starts complaining about being cold I tell him to go find some buffalo chips to burn like we had to when we were kids.

Car. I have little need for a car right now. So maybe that's cheating. In which case, I'll go with heat.

This is easy, if I could not even ride in a car then theres no way I could go a week without it. How would I get to work, the store, or anywhere in general? I'm not riding a bicycle 60 miles a day, uphill both ways in the snow and cold.

TV has no hold on me. Other than the Chiefs game, Lost, and Heroes, I wouldn't even notice it being gone. And with Lost and Heroes, it wouldn't even hurt that much. Listening to Chiefs on radio for one game would be a bummer, but it would be easier than giving up a week of the other conveniences.

I lived without TV for about 3 years in my early 20's. It was great. I also went without a car for a couple of years. Riding a bike to work in winter can suck, but you stay in great shape.

With two fireplaces, giving up central heat would have the smallest impact on my life.

Well, my car threw a rod on my way home from Thanksgiving, so I guess I get my wish.
