Why is it the networks are so reluctant to give the Chiefs a primetime home game. The Denver game was the Chiefs' first primetime home game since the Buffalo game back in 2003.

The Chiefs haven't had a MNF home game since the Seattle game in 2000.

Yet Denver gets like 10 primetime home games every season.

Definitely. Although... I'm guessing CBS is going to save one of their "protections" for that last week, and that might be the game that gets moved to 4 pm of the doubleheader. But if the game means something, it'll probably be moved somewhere, that was the point of waiting until 6 days before during that last week.

Any chance we just stay in Cali? If the team flew back after the game they would get in late Monday morning. Assuming they fly back out on Wednesday that equates to just two nights in their own beds. Why not just stay in San Diego Sunday night and either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday make your way up to the bay?

I like the Sunday flex schedule thing. MNF sort of became the shiny new stadium spotlight, not a good game spotlight. I know anything can happen over an offseason, but the MNF scheduling was absolute crap in recent years.

This is a chance to be sure the best games get coverage in the most important weeks. I'm all for it and will be really happy if the JAX game get shifted even though it means I'd have to change my travel plans and not get back to LA for New Year's Eve. I'm booking both flight options and with pay the penalty to reschedule one to the next time I want to fly (mmm playoff game maybe... I'll go just about anywhere for that.)

The football schedule is one of the only good things about living in California.

Early games start at 10 am, so I don't have to wait that extra couple of hours, and the late game is over around 8:15 pm.

Since I have to get up at 4 am, that's a good thing.

This almost cost me $100. I am flying into LA for this game. My flight out on Sun. was scheduled for 9:00 PM out of LAX. The airline called last week to let me know about a re-schedule to where my flight would leave at 7:15 PM. There was no way I would make LAX from SD at 7:15.

They offered me a flight the next morning but I didn't want to miss work so I raised a stink and they put me on a United flight from LAX at 9:00 PM.

I then read this post and just called the airline to see if I could still get that flight the next morning. After a little persuasion the airline allowed me to switch to the Mon AM flight with no charges.

If they would have never switched my flights they would have charged me $100 to move to the next day.

Last year when they moved the Philly game my dad missed the whole 2nd half (probably the reason we lost) so he could catch his flight.

My Dad is really into taking the train down from Orange County so we will probably take the train down and back that same day. I might come down on Sat night and party with my cousin in Lajolla.

I didn't go to the SD game last year, but did the year before. We had quite a Chiefsplanet tailgate.

BD came down and the So Cal contingent (Logical, 2 Bike Mike, Adam - prior to moving back to KC)was quite hospitable. Seeing that it is a 5 PM game (likely) we should organize a gathering.

There are 7 (possibly 11) in our group. We were able to score tix from the Chiefs travel group so we should be seated around other Chiefs fans (V3, Row 9) which is the 30 yard line...not too bad.

Chargers at night?
The league has informed the Chiefs of the possibility that the Dec. 17 game at San Diego could become the league’s nationally televised Sunday night game. If so, the starting time would switch from 3:05 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The game would be shown in Kansas City on Channel 41 instead of Channel 5.
The NFL’s new flexible scheduling policy allows one Sunday afternoon game each week over the season’s final eight weeks to be changed to a night start for NBC. The Chiefs-Chargers game is an obvious candidate given that both teams are currently strong playoff contenders.
None of the other games currently scheduled for the afternoon of Dec. 17 feature two teams in the center of the playoff chase.
The league will likely make the switch official with an announcement on Monday.

I agree. There's no good reason to write this game off as a loss. They have the home field advantage, but their number one weapon, LT, is usually pretty ineffectual against us. As long as our D keeps playing like it has, LT will largely be a non-factor. Rivers is going to have to beat us through the air.
