I'm getting sick of the fuggin commercialism this year.

It was Christian Slater in the Booth for the Jokeland game.
Now "Rocky Balboa" is in there?

So, I guess if you're an actor with a project to push you get to commentate now? What -- hosting SNL and running the talk show circuit isn't enough for these dickwads?

Give me a friggin' break!

That, and the "Are you ready for some football" gheywad sequence at the beginning. :Lin:

Monday night football feels like an exhibition...they treat it like a joke, why shouldn't we?

IMO, the coverage pretty much died when Gifford & Dierdorf left.

The games slated is on someone else and he should DIE.

rather it be Al and John

I never thought it could get bad enough to where I'd agree with a statement like that, but it has.

Yeah, who's the genious who thought Bears @ Rams would be a good game? Not even a rivalry there.....

Monday Night Football has not been the same since parity in the NFL started reallly taking hold as well as not being able to schedule the best division game on each weekend.

Kornheiser sucks. Never like Theismann, Tirico who.......

Here in the middle of Illinois its a pretty big deal, because its pretty much 50/50 for the local fans, but for the rest of the nation i totally understand your thoughts.

MNF sucks and as Bugeater said, thats frickin' SAD.

IMO, what killed MNF was the bad matchups that cropped up before 2005, and the change of commentators. Madden and Michaels helped a lot, but I don't think they could overcome Dennis Miller.

eSPIN has ruined the spectacle in my opinion. Cornholer's constant "sportwriters will write... tommorrow" has zero interest to Joe Fan. Tirico is a network pimp job, only tossing bones for Theesman to chomp on. The best thing Joe did for television entertainment is getting his twig broken on replay after replay.

It's kind of like "...Oh, by the way, there's this game tonight..."

That's right. And it's ridiculous.

Women shouldn't be watching football. They should be getting their man another beer! ;)

DENNIS MILLER: "Oh man, expecting him to catch that pass was like expecting Butros Butros Ghali to come to the table with Khadafi and Arafat when they're all out of babaganoosh at the Ghaza summit! And then they were expecting Clinton to bring the weed but he got bogged down when Manchim Begins VW bus ran out of gas and he couldn't thumb a ride because his thumb was up Putin's keester!

It's happening in all of pro football at some level. The production of these games just sucks. Networks are trying to hard to make it about more than just the game.

The most infuriating part about MNF to me is the in-booth interviews with whoever ABC needs to pimp that week. Not only do I feel like I'm having advertising shoved down my throat during the game, I'm also forced to watch these a-holes talk to each other rather than getting to watch replays of what's happening on the field. I'll guarantee that during every single play of the game there is some aspect that is more interesting to watch than Tirico tickling the balls of some asshat from Desperate Housewives.

I tune in to football to see football. If I wanted Oprah I'd watch that instead. They are losing their key demographic in an attempt to get a small portion of other demographics.

The problem is a bunch of crappy matchups that nobody wants to see.

And that Network will tell you..we pay such and such to show this game so we need to promote our shows on it so we get something back.....oddly pimping shows during football does lead to increased viewership so that's why it is a constant thing.

There were a TON of people that thought Sunday Night Football would replace MNF within the first year, both because of it's availability (NBC is a network, available OTA, while ESPN is cable and even an upper tier cable) and because Al Michaels/John Madden were a staple of the national football experience.

However, ESPN's ratings are kicking ass. But Sunday Night Football is considerably better. I haven't watched a full Monday-night game all season.

If they would drop the visits to the booth, MNF this year would be better than MNF last year.

Al Michaels invented the idea that his show is bigger than the game. Have you forgotten the endless drivel about how MNF is about "so much more" than football. "It's transcended the game!" he loved to say, which was crap, of course. Show a good game and we watch because football is the best sport and we love it, dammit.

Even with Tony K. in the booth, the ESPN crew is more knowledgable -- they make more relevant comments and seem more aware of what is happening in the NFL. Madden, on the other hand, is senile and I honestly don't think Al Michaels watches football outside of his broadcasts.

I for one was upset when the MNF schedule came out with no Chiefs games. I'd bet most will agree after watching these clowns, I don't think I would want them on Monday nights.

They need to focus on the game at hand as well as all of the Sunday games. The fastest 3 minutes in sports at halftime doesn't cut it. During the game have things like the top 5 catches, top 5 runs, top 5 sacks, top 5 hits, biggest plays, etc. If there is a chance your team or players from your favorite team are going to be shown in highlights, you might watch a game you aren't really interested in, or not flip so much. If you have a game about the Eagles, do a segment on the cheerleaders rather than Rocky Balboa.

Oooh! Top 5 cheerleaders! Entire halftime, right there! "An 'in depth' look..." I'll tape/edit the segment for free. Please send me to Miami and Houston first.

If it wasn't for John Madden, I'd watch more SNF.. it gets worse every year.

Kornheiser isn't as bad as he is on PTI... he comes of as a complete moron on the show. The other two don't like him, so maybe that's why they bring people in... so Tony has someone to talk to.

When will ESPN/ABC, whoever get it through their heads that Monday Night Football will never be the cultural event that it was 30 years ago and instead treat it as a football game... wouldn't that be a novel concept.

There is nothing worse than watching football all day on sunday and realizing the only person who said something worth listening to was Cris Collinsworth!! That should never happen, and yet it did.

I can't stand most sports announcers, but I think it would be cool if they broadcast alternate commentary, as well, like the Spanish alternate, but a local radio broadcast or something.

I can dream.

I don't think I've ever listened to an ex-football player sound as stupid as Theisman. My wife could sound more intelligent than him and she hates football. Kornholer is annoying as hell. I only check in occassionally (with the sound off) to see if how it's affecting my picks in my office pool. It's lost everything special about it, with the exception of being the only game on.

It's all about money.

Oddly enough MNF ratings are down this season, partially is because not everyone has cable, but it's just not a good product anymore. Youre exactly right it's more commercialized than ever!

That would kick @$$!

P.S. Is it just me, or has the MNF officiating been pretty sucky lately, too?
