I would make the hole just big enough to fit a can of beer through. In my opinion, nothing says happiness like a liberated octopus with beer in hand....err, testicle....umm...

I saw a documentary on the mimmic octopus a few years ago. They are no doubt some of the most fascinating creatures we share a planet with
