It's amazing how much money people sink into that. I had a friend that was into it. We went to Half Moon Bay that's where everyone used to fly them around here. He had $1,500 into a biplane. He was flying it and about to hand me the controls when the battery went out in the plane and he crashed it totally destroying the plane. At the time I was glad he didn't hand me the control it would have been my fault then. The guy was an idiot.

It would be cool but they got thousands into to some of those things.

Was that a true jet engine or a ducted fan?
Since I didn’t hear a piston engine, I’d assume it wasn’t a ducted fan but I didn’t know that they had jet engines for RC’s.
Anyway, sucks for dudes toy.

I used to be into RC planes. Yes it can be expensive but most of the expense is in the engines and radio equipment. Depending on the plane kit you built when I was doing it 10 or so years ago. On average it was only about 100 to 200 dollar loss after a unexpected meeting between the plane and the ground. I would just go and recover the whole mess, take it home and retrieve all the radio gear, engine, fuel tank and other usable parts out the carnage. Then start building another plane to do it all over again. I haven't looked at that video yet, damn work policy, but that looks like a fire. Never had anything like that happen. If the radio gear got burned up that would be a bummer.

I think George Bush ordered it to be shot down.

I have like a 30 dollar one from Toys R Us that I crash all the time. Those types cost way too much money though.

The comments on youtube are funny. "You can see the pilot eject. I hope he's alright!"

Big ones are hella steep. Where we flew the one my buddy crashed most of them were between 1k to 2.5k. His crashed with such an impact you could feel it in your feet when it hit the ground. Moron didn't replace the battery in the plane.

You can see something break off this jet and the right wing start flapping just before this one went down.

They sure do. Mini, functional turbines.

No problem. I got my son one of these for Christmas. We'll see how he does.

On the slowest setting you can actually see debris coming from the plane before it crashed. It could have been controlling gears on the ailoron rods or he tried to deploy a drag chute because he lost control of the plane. Either way it sucks to be him. :banghead:

Yea, you can buy a Crate car engine for that.
Still pretty cool though.

That's the wrong one. I actually got him this one: http://www.hobbyzonesports.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HBZ7000

I'm sure that he'll test the anti-crash technology. Hopefully it works!

Cool. Personal Jet packs must be just around the corner.

RC planes arent too bad but RC helicopters are a menace. I saw one guy flying one for the first time and it sawed through the cab of his truck.
