No Rams on TV: Team's sellout streak ends
By Jim Thomas
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
12/21/2006

The home sellout streak is over for the Rams. For the first time since the franchise moved to St. Louis in 1995, a home game will not be televised locally.

The Rams did not reach NFL sellout requirements by noon Thursday, so Sunday’s final home game of the season against Washington will be blacked out to local fans, according to team officials. About 3,000 tickets remain for the contest, and neither the Rams nor Fox (Channel 2), which has the rights to televise the game, were willing to buy up the tickets.

Until Sunday, all 95 regular-season home games and all five home playoff games by the Rams had been televised locally.

Isn't that the first blackout of any team all season?

Cool----maybe now I'll get to watch the Chiefs-Jags game.

The Bills have had a couple blackouts this year... which is too bad because they're legitimately in the playoff race.

I thought Buffalo's game was blacked out in week 11..... IIRC

I wonder if the Chiefs will have one next year?

My thoughts are it might be close, but someone will step up and buy the tickets to keep it on TV..

Talk about having the fans and city by the balls?

Is the Jags game on New Year's Eve sold out?

Since there's such a long season-ticket waiting list, Carl could probably increase the sale of season tickets from 72,000 to 79,000 to prevent any chance for a non-sellout next year.

Seriously, who would want to watch a POS game like that anyway?

I doubt the Chiefs are far behind.

Duh, Rams suck.

This one isn't on the Rams' fans. It's on the Redskins' fans.

Everyone knows that 75% of the tickets to Rams home games are purchased by fans of the visiting team.

I would think the Jax game would sell out because they'll probably honor Lamar. Next year though... I guess it'll depend on ticket prices, offseason moves, etc. I'm sure Carl will be very active again, maybe we can dump another 40-50 million in a 3rd cornerback.

What the hell, nobody ever goes to their games, I didn't think they ever sold out the home games

I'm so freaking sick of the Fox game in KC always being some torturous matchup between the Lambs and RandomcrappyNFCteam or RandomcrappyNFCteam and RandomcrappyRamsdivisionopponent.

A raider game a couple of weeks ago did not sell out.

I thought the NFL changed to rules a couple of years ago so teams can't do that. Also, I don't think the local affiliate carrying the game can agree to buy the remainder of the tix anymore either, but a corporate sponsor of the team can,

Haha, I've always said that. And I'm a big Ty Law fan, but having the two most expensive players on your defense be your cornerbacks is an iffy idea.

I know, just having fun. I think it will change soon though, don't you? I was shocked when Carl pulled the trigger on Ty Law, trying to get over the hump. Two consecutive years Ty Law was added to Herms team and it worked neither time.

BY NOW ALL THE LITTLE WARRIORS KNOW THAT THE POWER OF THE WARRIOR IS SOMETHING YOU WANNA FEEL, SOMETHING YOU WANNA TASTE. IT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU TURN ON THAT TV SCREEN OR BUY THE TICKETS IN ARENAS, YOU KNOW THAT IT'S GONNA BE EXCITING. AND IT MAY EVEN BE A LITTLE BIT FRIGHTENING.

If you think there is still a waiting list for Chiefs tickets, I've got some Florida real estate you should look at. We are much closer to having a blackout than a waiting list. Won't surprise me at all if we have some as soon as next season given the way Peterson has this orgaziation headed.

For the Ravens game they offered 1/2 price tickets to military personel.

For the Jags game they are offering 1/2 price tickets to Educators.

The Rams didn't sell out because TV didn't buy 3,000 tickets. There are more than that available for the Chiefs game against the Jags

Buddy's co-worker has Washington Redskins/Lambs game he's trying to sell....He asked me if I wanted 'em at 1/2 price.

Not sure I'd go if it was Free. Saw Deadskins last year.
to watch them beat the Rams might be worth it.
