Hold on is it a movie or something, the protection won't let you if you go that route.

It does if you can flash the DVD bios and get rid of it, like I did with my mine. :)

It's something a friend sent to wife.
She doesn't know if it's a movie, a documentary or something else.

I'm not really sure why she wants to transfer it, except that she enjoys watching these things at night while she's in bed, and we only have a DVD player in the living room.

They'll be phasing out VHS very soon anyway- and hey, you can get a DVD player for practically nothing nowadays...

Of course they will.
I haven't yet figured out how to work VCR's, much less DVD's.

Hell, I never figured out Beta.

the DVD player will output Macrovision which will screw up any copies being made with a VCR.
unless you have a VCR that has a filter built in, which isn't even legal to buy anymore.
They used to make stuff like that in the 80s and 90s before this country was taken over by corporations and sheep in the name of protecting children.

Not that it would help you right now but you can get a dvd player up at Wal-Mart for like $30-$35 dollars and they will even play divx movies. Its a great deal.
