Anyone else have one of these?

I just got mine set-up but am having problems getting a signal.I put the antenna in an open window with a screen and still nothing.

I finally had to move the antenna outside and it's working fine now but I don't want to have to put the antenna outside everytime I want to listen.

I guess my question is threefold, does anyone else have one of these, have you had problems getting a signal,is there anything you can do to get a signal without leaving the unit outside?

Connector for antenna is what?

Check with Radio Shack this can't be a new problem.... Or Google it.

Will likely have to have an outside antenna Dish connection.

Seem to remember service for Sirius on Dishnet/Directtv

I have to do the same with my sirius receiver. I havn't found a better way to do it except pointing it to the south.

Joe, I'm glad you brought this up. I have had Sirius for about 6 months now. It's a Starmate radio that never leaves the car.

I have been contemplating getting the Boombox and had not made the purchase because I was worried about the issue you raised in this thread.

Here is the message board for technical Q/A Sirius Backstage (http://www.siriusbackstage.com/)

Hope this helps.

BTW, I just want to say that since I spent the $ on this radio medium, I'm NEVER going back to terrestrial radio.

I love it.

Put it in a screened porch if you got one

Wonder if it has anything to do with the metal shell, or whether it's a common issue...

Bob Dole's car loses the signal under the awning at the ATM.

That steel building you live in may be complicating things.

Bob Dole didn't give it Sirius consideration until the new car came with a 6 month subscription. It was nice being able to listen to the games on the drive to MO last Sunday.

Elvis has his own channel, IIRC.

I have had it for 2 years now. I love it. I don't have the boom box but I have a JVC hooked to a stereo in my house. I don't even have my antenna in a window and it picks up great. My car receiver skips out at times.

Yeah,I talked to a buddy of mine with XM and he brought that up as well. It's working great right now although the antenna is in between the screen and the window and the window is closed as far as I can get it still leaving a crack which isn't going to be good when it finally gets real cold.

The buddy I'm playing cards with tonight is all but a whiz when it comes to these issues,he assured me we'll get something permanent done,we'll discuss it further later tonight.

I have had a boombox for my sirius for almost 2 years now and I have taken it on the road with me and have always gotten an excellent signal.

I don't have any useful advice to offer, but at work someone has a little XM antenna sitting on top of their cubicle, and they don't sit near a window either. I think there might be a way to make it work.

I have a boombox too, but rarely use it for just that problem.

I have to hang the antenna out a South facing window for it to work.

I have a starmate also but I bought the home kit. I currently have it hooked up in my house but what I did is use the antenna that goes on the car instead of the one that came with the home kit because the one that goes to the car seems to be alot more powerful and you don't have t point it in any direction. Just set it into a window sill.

If you don't mind spending about $20 bucks for an extra antenna that would probably work well for you.

Extra car antenna link (http://www.tss-radio.com/sirius-accessories-sirius-antennas-c-231_232.html?osCsid=ab87f739ab44bbd81e184e9dcfa36ead)

Well I just tested the car antenna away from the window and its working like a champ.

Since the topic is fresh and Bob Dole just spent almost 6 hours listening to 124: Could someone please stab Adam Schein in the throat?

It's pronounced TiTans...not Tie-Uns, dipshit. Good Christ...you make your living on the radio. Learn how to speak.

And if "Brandon in Missouri" is reading this: STOP CALLING IN EVERY ****ING DAY AND JUST CALL THE OTHER 3 PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THE DETROIT LIONS DIRECTLY.

So did you catch Bam-Bam the trucker from Missouri today and his bit about the chicks driving up beside him and flashing him?

Good stuff.

Managed to miss Bam-Bam somehow.

Listened from about 11am until 5:15pm with the exception of 45 minutes or so. Caught the doofus from Canada that they declared "the dumbest call in 3 years".

Somewhere just north of Mena, so it was 3:30ish probably.

I have had the boom box for a year I was a howard stern fan and followed him over as soon as he annoced the deal with sirius.I ran the antena outside from day one and never have had many issues with it.You may need to buy a seperate antena for when you want to leave your house with the boom box.Runing the antena ouitside is the only way really not to have issues with it.
