View Full Version : Colts Run D is VERY bad...

Only St. Louis (10) has allowed more 100-yard rushers than Indianapolis (9) and Oakland (9) this season. The Colts rank 32nd in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 173.0 ypg. Indianapolis has registered a 3-4 record in its last seven contests. Over that seven-game span, the Colts have actually permitted 190.6 rushing ypg. In the Colts four regular season losses, Indianapolis has relinquished an average of 225.5 rushing ypg. The Chiefs single-game playoff rushing rushing record of 176 yards was established by RB Priest Holmes in Kansas City’s most recent postseason contest, a 38-31 loss vs. Indianapolis (1/11/04).

Newsflash, wow, thanks for starting another thread about it.

It's yards per attempt that is even more telling, and they are terrible in that regard, too. They are giving up more than 5 yards per rush attempt.

I knew it was bad, but we are talking all-time worst here. 225 ypg?????

Printers can pull a VanPelt on them. Or whatever that Broncos QB's name was that first play in the NFL was for a TD

That's what I'm saying. This is a whole 'nuther level of bad. No wonder the Indianapolis press was fainting at the prospect of LJ coming to down. I thought it telling that Priest got a buck 76 in '04 as well...

We will only win if we limit LJ's runs to make sure MB, Dee Brown, Kris Wilson, Dante Hall, and Eddie Kennison get carries.

On NFL Live they said teams have only won 53% of their home games this season. WOW Indy's due a loss

Where's Marv Levy? It's time to break out the Wing T.

My hope is for a 14-0 win where we hold the ball for 30 minutes on one scoring drive, kick off, force a punt, and then hold the ball for another 29 minutes on another scoring drive.

I wonder what the longest possible scoring drive is? If you got the ball inside your ten and went to third down (assume you don't have to go four downs) at 39 seconds each, you would move 10 yards every two minutes, more or less. That means you could bang out nine first downs plus a touchdown if you went three downs every time and gained about ten yards. That would add up to about twenty minutes of possession. I guess you could then get some penalties, too, right? If you got a personal foul after you got a first down, you'd back up 15 yards but you'd keep the first down, right? So if you really played your cards right and got some penalties, you could take a full 30 minutes on one drive.

Everyone's missing the big story about the Colts' run defense. All those horrible numbers were done without THE INCREDIBLE BOB SANDERS in their lineup.

But now he's going to play! Larry Johnson, the same LJ who rushed for 120 against the Ravens, 130+ against the Chargers and Jags and Raiders, 150+ against the Donks, is no match for THE INCREDIBLE BOB SANDERS!

LJ will be lucky if he squeaks out 25 yards on 30 carries in this game. THE INCREDIBLE BOB SANDERS won't even let him out of the backfield. LJ's only positive yards will come while THE INCREDIBLE BOB SANDERS is taking a few plays off, catching his breath as he bangs a few cheerleaders and cures cancer on the sidelines.

LJ is in serious trouble. He may as well retire today and save himself the embarrassment.

It's great fun to try to do this in Madden. I think I had an 11-minute drive once.

That 2nd game against the Jaguars got all the attention because they ran for 375 yards... but in the first meeting of the two teams... Jacksonville literally had a 25-5 TOP advantage in the first half. It was amazing. They only turned it into 7 points though, and ended up losing.

Let that be a lesson to Herm. Just running without a real threat to score from anywhere on the field may give LJ nice stats and cool TOP but not necessarily administer the KO punch to a very potent Indy offense.

Hes undersized....but a hell of a player. Id love to have him as a Chief.

In fact, we could have had him had we not selected Siavii....Hell, we could have had a few decent players instead of that chump.

We have people out there saying it won't matter what QB starts at Indy, its all about running the ball. Here's a quote from a Planet poster with reply:

Quote:

You tell me what the deciding factor is.----------------------------------------------------------------------

Right, that was AT Jacksonville. In the RCA dome, Jax rushed for over 200 yards, controlled the ball for 39:24, and LOST 21-14. The reason? The stellar passing attack that produced 106 whole yards and 2 INTs. There's your smoking gun, folks.

This is why who plays QB Saturday is the deciding factor. JMHO!
