Got my 21 game package. Very excited about this season. Key changes at catcher and pitcher could spell a possible contention for the ALC. Dayton Moore has been the cure the Royals need so far. So far.

Theres no way we will contend for the division this season.

Not me, i'll def. go to some games as i do every year for fun. This team should be more fun to watch this year. I am hoping for a .500 team at best.

~10 game improvement, continuing to develop younger players, make some moves to stock some more talent into the minors.. those things are all you can really hope for.

The difference between the Royals last year and a good team is too great to overcome in one offseason.

Didn't we have one of the best records in baseball the 2nd half of the season? I think we are on our way. A lot of our problem was attitude. And that changed drastically when Moore came in.

Very good observation. 10 game improvement would be a great step.

If you are making reference to the fact that we aren't finishing last in our division this season, then you're fuggin nuts.

CHI, DET, and MIN were all 90 game winners last season. CLE is an alright team as well.

This team is screwed because every team in our division is young and has postseason hope. We simply do not. ALC quietly became the toughest division in baseball. Kinda sucks when you're the worst team in baseball competing in the best division in baseball.

Meche? He will help. Acutllay I think Hudson is going to be a stud. Perez is a solid pitcher and so is Meche. I would like to see Redman back as well. We finally have a catcher that will shoot someone stealing and hopefully keep balls in front of him.

You just wait and see. The days of Allard Baird are over son.

We've gotten rid of alot of what he brought. Teahan may be the best of that bunch. Some of the attitude and bs is gone too. Dayton has a definite plan and i like his confidence. Helps the owner is behind him as well.

From June on, we were 49-62 (.441).

Over a whole season that would project to a record of 71-91. With that record last year, we still would have finished last in the AL Central, as the 4th place team was Cleveland at 78-84.

I've been debating what package I'm going to get. That buy one get one free deal or whatever sounds promising. Get a bunch of friends together, it'll be nickel and dime if you have alot of people who like the Royals. Baseball isn't as much about winning or losing as it is hotdogs, brats, and summer entertainment.

After seeing that sample that we were around .450 the rest of the season after our dismal start, I see no reason why we can't go .500 with the added pitching to our roster. I really don't. 77-81 is what I'm predicting, but our division is really tough.

It's possible, but what you are predicting (81 losses) is a 25 game improvement over the previous year. I don't know if that is possible even in a dream scenario.

(And also, 77-81 is only 158 games.)

Until the hitting prospects reach the majors and get acclimated, we are not going to be scoring any runs, for one thing.

Who's playing third base? Teahen or Gordon? Teahen deserves it. Gordon is paid for it. Who do you chose? I say we move Teahen or Gordon over to short and get rid of the piece of shit Berroa.

Not a chance in hell. SP improved over the offseason and our hitting should be in the top 5 or 6 in the AL.

As for Gordon or Teahen moving to short, its never gonna happen. They are both to big and tall to play any other infield spot aside from first or third. However, rumor has it that Gordon is going to have every chance to be the starting third baseman out of ST and will move Teahen to play in the OF.

I don't think its unrealistic for a team to improve by that many games in a single year. The last couple years there have been teams come close. 2002 Royals - 2003 Royals (+21) , 2005 Tigers - 2006 Tigers (+24), San Diego 2003 - San Diego 2004 (+23). Arizona 2004 - Arizona 2005 (+26) I'm too lazy to look for more but there's been a team improve by 20 + games every season for the last 4 years. I don't think its that much of a stretch to say another team will do it this year and there's no reason that can't be the Royals.

Coach
01-07-2007, 11:24 PM
They were .271/.332/.411 which their .271 team batting average is 12 out of 30 teams. What they do need to improve is their team OBP and their SLG.

I know that the Royals won't have alot of power, a lineup like the Yankees in terms of HR's, so the key is that the Royals, as a team, will need to improve their OBP.

Oh, and of course, their pitching deftinaly has to improve.
