I'll take kU 88-73... unless Hannah somehow channels Melvin Booker in this game (and even then, I probably still take the beakers by a couple).

Mizzou's complete lack of an inside presence will be a gigantic problem throughout the conference season... but I'd be happy with 8 conference wins (gonna have to steal a couple back in Manhattan and Ames  :shake: ) and Kalen "The Black Hole" Grimes never seeing the floor again.

Has Marshall Brown been working on his dunks? If so, I'll take KU 88-75.

I think that Andersons for minutes of humor will allow the Jayhawks talent to take of this game early.. I say KU 88 MU 53......

the spread is only 15?

...in the Fieldhouse?

playing against a team with "Mizzou" on their chest should keep the arrogant KU squad focused.

and their inside guys should dominate the boards.

KU: 78 (20 on offensive put-backs)
MU: 53

also, our guards and aggressive attitude will destroy their '40 minutes of hell'.

get ready to run, boys

Just an FYI... Anderson does not press full-court for a full 40 unless it is giving the other team major problems. If a team proves it can break the press, he will back it off.

He'll still trap and have a guard pressure the ball all the way up the floor, but Mizzou is not out there in a press at all times...

It's funny, really. Having a coach who will make adjustments in a game. As a Mizzou/Chiefs fan, I don't get too much of that.

Thanks, Pinkel, Quin and Herm.

This is going to be a beatdown. I dont see how any of MU's big guys can contain Arthur or Wright. MU is a terrible rebounding team and hasn't played against a team that is as good defensively than KU.

KU will constantly beat the press and will get easy buckets. MU will get into foul trouble, I say KU 87 MU 65.

Everyone is predicting a big win by KU, it is a rivalry game and I think it will be closer than 20.

Good assessment, really... Mizzou's only chance is for the pressure to speed up the game and get kU's young guards to take some bad, quick shots (keeping the big guys out of it, as in the Arkansas game). If kU has a bad shooting night, Mizzou has a chance to stay in it.

I don't expect the Tigers to win or keep it close, but hey, crazier things have happened (see 1997: a more talented, more polished, more experienced, undefeated kU team losing to Mizzou's worst team in the 90s).

I think KU is a better running team, it suprises me they don't run more often. I think they lack a #1 true scorer too, I thought Rush was supposed to be that guy.

That one still hurts....what a joke....Vaughn steals the ball away...goes off a knee - into the hands of a MU player who hits the shot and wins the game.

An unreal ending to a truly classic game.

I remember playing in the Dance againt Arkansas and their "Forty Minutes of Hell". KU ran their ass off so badly that Oliver Miller quit going tothe defensive end of the court. I've never laughed so hard in my life. But that was a long time ago. It should be a good game unless MU insists on pressing. Another time, when Kentucky wouldn't quit pressing we ran up 150 points on them. There is still bad blood over that.

That was in 1997. The 98 game, kU had the ball stripped with 2 seconds left, trailing by one.

Still a great game, though... Monte Hardge nearly decapitated Eric Chenowith celebrating following the game...

Ku's team is very unselfish, that also hurts them a bit too, I think Rush or Chalmers should be the go to guy when they need a basket. They should take charge more, don't you think?!

Oliver Miller was so fat - he almost died on the court in that game.

Somewhere in my stash of KU stuff....I have a shirt that made for that game that has the AR before Kansas...and the AR crossed out.

We went on quite a run that year.

Rush won't take charge. Trust me. I waited for two years for Kareem to start taking charge at Mizzou. It never happened. Gilbert was the heart, the guy who wanted to take the clutch shots.

You kU fans better hope Chalmers steps up and takes that role, because no Rush brother ever will.

Rush did pretty well with the game on the line against ISU, offensively and defensively.

But Chalmers should be the scorer if Rush can't. He can do it all, he'll be a star by the time he's a senior

Mr. Laz
01-15-2007, 04:00 PM
i think KU pretty much knocks the crap outa of MU tonight.

KU's weaknesses are

lack of focus - should be handled because it's a rivalry and because it's at home

interior play - but MU has the same weakness.

Mizzou's strength causing turnovers ... but i think the Hawks handle the ball pretty well so they shouldn't have a problem.

Hannah should have a pretty good game for MU though.

i expect Kaun to have another good game in the middle and for KU to blow MU out by 20.

KU - 83
MU - 63

Yeah, everyone probably would have been much happier had Hardge's celebratory fist pump actually knocked Chenowith's head off...

sedated: Kareem showed flashes like that, too. Never did it on a game-in, game-out basis. It was immensely frustrating ... I'd say I hoped Brandon could overcome it, but I don't. He's a beaker. But hey, at least I know what you're going through.

You really think Chalmers will stick around four years? I see Rush and Wright leaving after this season, Chalmers taking over the scoring load next year and leaving following that.

I hear ya about the inconsistency. But the whole team has that problem.

At least he plays great defense, he's a matchup nightmare for the offense. We can handle his offensive inconsistency with the overall talent we have. Wish he was the scorer he wa hyped to be.

Collins got totally destroyed on the break at the end of the half.... Almost like a Hack-a-Shak type foul....

no foul called...

but they will call a hand check on anybody.
that's what frustrates me the most about the officiating in college basketball. They are too inconsistent with their calls. On the one hand they'll call a chinsy little hand check out in the middle of the floor, but a guy is driving hard to the hoop and gets body contact and nothing.

They wouldn't be nearly as close if we were finishing on offense. We've had a lot of good looks, just not dropping them. We've had several breaks where guys make the wrong decision and miss it or turn it over.

These deficiencies must be rectified or we're in for another first round exit this year when some nobody shoots 50 3's and makes 25 of them.
