And no, this doesn’t belong in the Girly JPEG thread. ;)
My wife e-mailed this too me know’n how much of an acceleration junky I am so I thought I’d share.

New Ohio Roller Coaster with record-breaking height of 420 ft. and a record-breaking speed of 120 MPH, Top Thrill Dragster delivers on its promise thrilling riders this summer at Cedar Point. The last picture says it all.

Pictures in the first few posts, as long as I can get them to attach.

It's a good thing Jeez isn't that runny, I don't want a big wet spot showing up on my pants after riding it.

Was that a line I just crossed?

OMG, I love roller coasters and NEED to ride that thing! I went to cedar point a few years ago and their biggest roller coaster at the time was the "Millenium."

If going forward was bad enough...

The speed of Top Thrill Dragster is controlled by a computer which regulates the speed of the launch in order to minimize forces as the train crests the hill. It is a rare occurrence for the train to not reach the necessary speed to complete the ride, but does tend to happen in cool, wet or breezy weather. When the track is wet or the weather is cold, the standard launch speed is typically not enough to force the train over the hill. The train's momentum can also be hindered by a good headwind. When this happens, the train will climb the hill, stop just short of the apex, and roll back down the hill in reverse. To avert disaster, the launch track is equipped with retractable magnetic braking fins. After every launch these fins pop back into place to slow down a train that rolls backwards to stop it safely.

The park boasts an unheard of 17, yes, 17 roller coasters (more than any other park in the world)! With a lineup that includes three of the top 10 steel roller coasters in the world, Cedar Point is a coaster lover's dream come true.

WOW...this place must be something else. I am going to be in Ohio in May. I may have to head over there for a day.

Wow. 175' is up there. I am an electric lineman. Qualified to do tower work, but have not done much. Tallest pole I have climbed is a 100 footer. Your legs are burning pretty good by then. Climbed a lot of poles in major wind and ice though. You earn your money on those days/nights.

Little bit of backstory, there was a little roller coaster at WoF called the Shussboomer, back in the 70s. First time I went w/Mom/Dad, it was a [then] Bendix employee's/family night. I was about 5-6, and it was the only roller coaster I was tall enough to ride. There weren't long lines, as it was a 'small' ride and it was in the evening, etc. So pops got to accompany me on like 25-30 straight rides. I'd hop off, zoom down the exit, zoom up the entrance and hop on again, laughing like a madman.
Still crave that stuff, daydream about flying a fighter jet, driving a top fuel dragster, piloting an F-1 around Monaco.

you earn your money...not much to strap yourself to on frickin poles. i'm out in the country. it might be a radio tower, water tower, grain leg, or bin. if i can catch a signal, they'll send me up.

gotta take home some money to mrs. sec, so she'll let me have my daily 6pack and can of cope.

be careful.

Man, I was pissed when they tore that down. It was like one of those cat and mouse rides. Small, tight, compact. Me and my buddy would get in a car and lean on every corner and hill. It was before they started putting breaking mechanisms on those coasters. We made serious ground on the car in front of us. Never caught it though. Not that we didn't try.

That's funny, I thought the exactly the same thing when I saw those pictues. Pissed me off that no one would ever ride the bastard after I spent a fortune to build it. It would be the only badass ride in my park.

And that coaster looks awesome. I'll have to show the wife that one, I'd go on that in a heartbeat.
