I've given this some thought and I really don't care if he said Jew or chew. If I was jewish I wouldn't care if he said jew or chew.

Of course, were I Chewbacca and he said "chew" I'd be pissed because that obviously means he dislikes hairy brown people.

Simply using the term Jew is not offensive in an of itself. IMO, using it in your context is offensive, though, because it implies Jews are cheap money-grubbers. You aren't saying, "I don't like Jews," but you are perpetuating a negative stereotype about Jews. Perhaps the confusion is over the lack of a concrete definition of anti-semitism. Maybe not everything offensive to Jews is anti-semitic, but I don't know where or how you draw the line.

<sarcasm> Your absolutely right. Just because you use the word jew as a verb does not mean that you are anti-semitic. Back when I smoked full time and my wife smoked only while drinking, she would sometimes take a drag of my cigarette. When I informed her that she was n!ger-lipping my cigarette, I certainly wasn't trying to put down any African-Americans, so there was nothing wrong with my comment.

When I called in sick with the Irish flu, I was in no way implying that the Irish are drunks.
