Chiefs | Team works out R. Calmus
Sat, 17 Feb 2007 07:35:47 -0800

Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports the Kansas City Chiefs worked out free agent LB Rocky Calmus (Titans).

I thought we worked him out a while back. Did we have another meeting with LB Rocky Calmus or is this recycled news?

KC worked out him and Charles Rogers. I wouldn't be opposed to signing both.

Same here, especially Rogers, he flashed some pretty serious talent in the beginning. A fresh start could be just the ticket.

Speaking of Rocky, i'm planning on watching Rocky 3 for the umpteenth time on TNT at 11:30am cen. time. I love that movie.

Yeah I remember that along with a QB and some others too IIRC.

Kffl put this up today so I just wondered if we had another meeting with Calmus.

Rocky Calmus hasn't been a great player. When he came out of college there was high aspirations for him, but he's average at best.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a more recent meeting between us and Calmus because KFFL threw this up like it was something new. The meeting with Rogers, Jacobs and a few others was weeks ago.
Is KFFL that far behind? Surely not

Gunther has a hard on for him - because he coached him in Tenn. He is Monty and Boomer and Scanlon rolled into one.

He's from OU, thats means he's a stud.

Unless his name is Will Bartee.

calmus is prolly not fast enough to play in our system.

especially at MLB

we expect our middle linebacker to cover ground like a safety.

Thats why i'm on the DJ at MLB bandwagon, some say he's not cut out for it, but i disagree, his size is fine, he's a good tackler & his speed is optimal for this system.

It would free him up to cover the whole field.

why not put a big safety there?

Knight?

Because MLB's have to be big enough to tackle RB's and engage lineman in blocks and actually get away.

I don't think he's that much smaller than K Mitchell.

I know it wont happen, we wont trade LJ either, but we talked about that too.

If it were me coaching I might tamper with the idea.

Why no Knight?

Small

I only threw out Knight for a basis of comparisions, he's gettting too old to play? I thought he still looked good, made some good hits, but slow - he was always on the slow side for a safety.

10-15 llbs and he's a great LB, fast for a LB, cover skills, he can hit good, I know he wouldn't do to good on linemen, but neither does KW.

The fact that we have shitty WRs is no reason for you to choose Rogers over any other receiver out there on the market. Why you have a hard on for Rogers over say... Fred Ex is just plain stupid. Both were highly touted coming out of the draft, both first rounders, and both were supposed to be saviors of their team at the WR position. Both of them failed... miserably. Both of them have been often injured. And now no team wants them.

The Chiefs having shitty receivers is no excuse. We've been over this before.

I would like to see our LB core to include Pollard, Mitchell, or a FA at OLB and I've been thinking about DJ at MLB for a long time. Our secondary to have Page and Law at Safety and our CB's to be Surtain and a rook we draft with our first pick.

I would LOVE to see Law move to SS with Page at FS, i really think thats the best possible move. Pollards coverage skills may be a little weak for S, but would be perfect for a OLB spot IMO, he only needs about 10 pounds to do it.

They're not great, but they've managed to play several seasons in the NFL without ruining their own careers.
