View Full Version : Ghost Rider The Movie

Owned!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome, the acting was superb, but it had the classic tortured hero theme. Johnny Blaze is the modern Day Evil Knevil, and is a god in the Xstreme Sports circuit when was a kid he made a deal with the Devil and has to fight Satan's kid Black Heart and his goons. Before all that happens Ghost Rider owns Hoodlums and criminals preying on the weak. Pretty badass, and I'm not giving any spoilers unless you've already saw the movie then it's free reign

Meh, it was Okay. I just saw it tonight. It wasn't as great as you tout it to be.

I must say I'm surprised. Another comic book movie not living up to the hype. A real shocker there.

I'll watch it and I will like it, because that's the way I am.

I really liked the comic book. I remember my mom didn't like it, thought it was too evil looking for a 12 year old. So I would skip lunch a day or two and save the lunch money to buy it and stash it.

It's how I honed my skills to stash my porn now.

It's decent...if you remember to disengage your frontal lobe before viewing. At least the first half.

Nothing can save the second half from the hammiest hell-spawn ever. ROFL

For some strange reason I couldn't remember how. Luckilly, I had written the instructions down, and had someone else read them so we knew what to do. :)

If you liked the comic you are in for a surprise...and not a good one. Also a lot of shit didn't make sense.

Check out The Protector-with Martial Arts Superstar Tony Jaa. It says no CGI or wires. It is an amazing movie. Jet Li has passed the torch to this guy since his retirement.

Probably the best Muay thai fighting ever captured on film.

I havn't seen Ong-Bak yet but it is at the top of my que for Netflix.

My date even liked The Protector. The basic story is pretty good also-poachers steal Tony's elephants that he has had since childhood and take them to Australia.

The fights scenes make you say "DAMM!" He breaks guys legs, arms, necks-it is very authentic street/muay thai fighting. He does amazing Jackie Chan type stunts that make you rewind to see how in the hell he did it-still couldn't figure it out-lol

He is not invincible either which I like-when he gets hit, it hurts. The same HUGE dude that was in Fearless as the American Wrestler is in this along with a whole slew of bad guys.

He reminds me a lot of Bruce Lee in his early films.

No Stunt Doubles, No wires, No CGI! The real deal!!

Yea, most of the big hollywood action films rely waaay too much on CGI nowdays. It just looks too fake to me.

At least the old action movies back in the 80's used real locations, real cars, real explosions etc...

Couldnt agree more, its great for certain things but people are going overboard with it lately. It lacks the depth & dimension of scale models & of course real objects & places. Its a lazy way out IMO.

I will wait for Ghost Rider on DVD.

Originally, the script was more true to the comic book and has an R rated tag on it. Cage, was really pushing for the darker R- rated script but the suits said no for the more commercial PG-13 version of the story.

This happens alot. Apparantly PG-13 rated movies have a 75% chance of a higher gross than an R rated movie or something to that effect..

They also tend to have higher opening weekends...

Its all about the bottom line.

Actually, I like as guilty pleasures quite a bit of Cage's work. Raising Arizona is my favorite of his.

Leaving Las Vegas was very good, as was Matchstick Men.

I also enjoyed The Weather Man
The Rock
Con Air (why couldn't you just put the bunny back in the box)
Lord of War
Adaptation (great movie)
Bringing Out the Dead (gotta love Scorsese)
Face Off
Moon Struck...

Those are the ones I can come up with... nothing else sticks out in my mind.

I was a comic nerd, and I enjoyed Ghost Rider, but even at the time I knew how cheesy it was.

Seriously, a guy with a flaming skull head riding a motorcycle and wielding a chain whip? Sounds like something stoners drew on their trapper keepers in high school.

I don't have high hopes for this movie...
