There are 129 but only one I'm concerned about and he lives in a suburb of Chicago. The police department there thinks I'm him and apparently he has some outstanding traffic tickets. I have recieved letters in the mail twice warning that if I do not appear in court I will have a warrent issued for my arrest. I called the phone number listed and talked to a desk sargeant or dispatcher or janitor I'm not sure which and he said just throw the letters in the trash if I'm not him and don't worry. He said the guy had reportedly moved to Overland Park and apparently they googled my name came up with one with a Kansas address and assumed I was he. Some day I will be in Chicago and get pulled over for an illegal lane change or something and probably be arrested on this guys warrent all because he has the same name.

Here's why some of use don't show up at all:
from thier FAQ:
The list of names from the census bureau isn't complete. For privacy reasons, names with relatively few responses were not included in the list. We used this data to create this site. Our site can only be as good as the data we have to work with. Around 1 out of every 10 people will have a last name not on the list. Around 1 out of every 10 people will have a first name not on the list.Using the same statistical fallacy this site is known for, that means about 81% of people will have both names on the list. In a mathematical coup our scientists have determined from this information that about 19% of people will have either one or both names missing from the list.

The wife and I have discussed just dropping the land line altogether and just go with the cells. What really gets me irate is that there are not any laws to protect people in my situation. I shouldn't have to drop a service like my phone because of another person, that in my eyes penalizes my family from a service. I pay my bills, taxes, etc. on time. I shouldn't be harassed for another persons problems. From what I have gathered from some of the bill collector folks is that they get my number and address by scanning the local phone books of the last know local of the scumbag. I know they are just trying to do their job but it does come down to me being harassed. This guy has a different middle initial that I do, my middle initial is in the phone book listing, cross that one out not who we are looking for but it doesn't work that way. There really should be a better way for them to verify they are not contacting the wrong person.

Yeah, that sucks, but you can count on two things: first, the collection agencies don't give two shits about you or your privacy, and second, the calls will never stop as long as this other guy with your name is a friggin dirtbag. These agencies use whatever means available to exact payment, and based on personal experience, they tend to simply ignore anything you tell them - it seems they just assume anyone they talk to is lying until payment is received.

My wife had some fraudulent utility accounts opened in her name back in the early 90s, and Ameritech sent a collection agency after her. Even though she repeatedly provided proof that she had never lived at the address in question, they came back and came back and came back again. We finally had to sue them and Ameritech, and even during the course of the lawsuit they still kept trying to collect. It was unreal. At least we ended up winning the suit, putting that particular collection agency out of business, and even got a decent settlement from Ameritech itself (sticking those f#ckers felt great, too). But their methods are alive and well, I can assure you.

For your own peace of mind, I'd look into that unlisted number ASAP. Unless the deadbeat dies or suddenly gets responsible, that's the only relief you're going to get.

5,760 people prolly deserve an apology. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it, if I were you though...

34 with my full name.... 99.7% named Kevin are male :hmmm:

I have met the 0.3% of women named Kevin, I kid you not. She is the wife of one of my wife's co-workers. (Did that make sense? :hmmm: )

Anyway when we were first introduced I thought that I heard her name incorrectly or something. I asked my wife on the way home if the womans name was actually Kevin and it was.

I guess before Miss Kevin was born her parents thought for sure the baby would be a boy and chose the name. When the baby turned out to be a girl they just stuck with the name Kevin.

Kind of strange to say the least. Very nice woman but it takes a while to call her Kevin without thinking about it.

That's funny-- a Republican and a Democrat marrying and living hippily ever after.

I just got an old English name because it spells nice, but noone reads Chaucer, including me.
