In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, baby
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, honey
Don't you know that I'll always be true
Oh won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh won't you come with me
We'll walk this land
And please, please, take my haaAAaand

almost 40 years old and this song still kicks more ass than 95% of the crap they are putting out today.

Loved the version done by Slayer on the < Zero Soundtrack. Me and Herzig's younger bro wrecked my car to it on the way to school in '90. Good times, good times. Puff, puff, pass :-)

I love that song more than hot beef stroganoff laced with extra sour cream. However, I still don't know what "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" means, Mr. Laz.

That's why I will trade 463 draft picks to the person who can explain it to me.

Confident of this, Mr. jlscorpio? I only ask because, that's what I always thought as well, but several people have told me that explanation is untrue and that the singer was tripping on acid and muffed the lyric or it was some Buddhist phrase or something.

Where the hell is Alex Trebek when you need him?

Your version contradicts the liner notes, according to Wikipedia, which says that the intened title was, "In the Garden of Venus".

I want to agree with Mr. jlscorpio on this matter, but there is conflicting evidence.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid this shall remain a mystery like that whole, "After The Gold Rush" song which some people say is allegory, others that it is a subliminal message from an ancient alien culture, and since Neil Young doesn't even remember writing the thing, that he was actually dropped off by a spaceship somewhere near Calgary.

Iron Butterfly drummer Ron Bushy lays claim to that: “I was supporting the band by making pizza,” he says. “I came home at three in the morning from working one night and Doug played me a song he was writing. He polished off a whole gallon of Red Mountain Wine as the evening wore on. He played this song on the keyboard and he was so drunk that when he would sing "In The Garden Of Eden," it came out as "In A Gadda Da Vida."
