Dang. God bless Ernie Ladd.

Great memories, there. If they can find it, somebody needs to post the Grambling fight song.

Great player but his most outstanding football achievement was leading the charge when the black players boycotted the AFL All-Star Game in New Orleans.

He and Buck were a heck of a DT tandem back in the day when the Chiefs still had pride, Mr. Marlboro_Chief.

He was, what you call, bad ass.

He was slightly before my time, but he was a Chief and that's enough for me. RIP, big guy.

My grandma used to tell a story about sitting next to Ladd on a plane ride to KC. Says he was the biggest human being she ever saw and a very nice man who made the effort to make sure he didn't take up all the space in that row.

RIP, Big Cat Ernie Ladd.

Wasn't he a pro wrestler for a while?

I would have to agree about Ernie's size. I remember being amazed at how huge he looked beside other players at the old Downtown Stadium. If my memory is correct the Chiefs had just lost to Huston. As we were leaving the stadium Ernie and a few other Chief players were walking under the goal post along with an official. I am thinking he weighed around 300 lbs.

RIP Ernie Ladd
