Anyone read/watch "the Secret"?

I ordered it and it's getting a lot of buzz as it's been on The Today's Show, Oprah, & Montel (today).

What are some of your thoughts?

The techniques are nothing new. They are just more prevalent on the West Coast, for some reason. It requires discipline, because it requires that you learn to be in charge of your thinking. That's very (and surprisingly) difficult ... especially at first.

From time to time, I have actually considered offering my services to Planeteers as an affirmation consultant.

The techniques really don't preclude analytical thought, Mr. wutamess. But, it's important to rein in random thoughts. Particularly negative ones like the ones Mr. Rain Man has.

Joseph Murphy was a friend of mine and he eventually convinced me that, if I wasn't in charge of my thinking, no one was and that was akin to riding in a jet without a pilot. Going nowhere fast.

The process is well worth exploring, and I hope you will.

For example, rather than attempt to convince myself that I'm okay, I repeatedly remind myself that other people suck a lot worse than me and are probably going to burn in the raging, scorching, all consuming, everlasting fires of hell for eternity or until the flesh is finally eradicated from their tortured, blackened bones whichever comes first. That way, I feel better.

My problem with it is that it promotes itself as religious by having a pastor support it as well as other proclaimed Christians... however, there is absolutely nothing God-based about it.
