Sources say the Bears, in the wake of the Tank Johnson sentencing, quietly expressed interest in re-signing defensive tackle Ian Scott. He is testing free agency after four seasons in Chicago and has been in talks with the Chiefs, Broncos and Vikings.

Enh, he's young and might improve the pass rush... Denver will likely pass.

Ian Scott is a lot younger than Alphonso Boone, and received more playing time in the rotation. Most Bears fans believe Ian Scott to be a better DT than Boone. However, Boone had better stats than Scott at the position. Figure that one out...

It would be nice to tandum Ian Scott and Alphonso Boone at DT. They have played with each other for the last couple of seasons.

I really don't understand why Carl won't push to get this done, especially given Denver's interest.

Why exactly would he sign with the Vikings........he'd be a backup.

Why would he sign with the Chiefs? He'd be in for some one-on-one spanking sessions with Krumrie. Unless he's into that sort of thing. NTTAWWT

We need a Gator on the team. :thumb:eh, i would prefer a crocodile...

but if we're really want to spend $$$ on a dt, let's see if we can sign a leopard and then a skunk...

the leopard could play any position, while the skunk is limited to playing defensive tackle...

signing either one or both of them would be a bargain for us...

but i'd take the gator if that was the only choice available...

Maybe we can draft Marcus Thomas too, then the whole position will look different.

Randy Starks anyone?

He's a better option for getting that interior push we so desperately need. And I hear he can be had for a third-round pick.

Though I'd certainly settle for Ian Scott.
They say the Chiefs have been in talks with him.
I wonder why he hasn't been scheduled for a visit?

AND... What happened with Alvin McKinley?
Seems like that situation stalled out entirely.

Heck, if we get Scott I would be MORE than happy with this offseasons signings. That would also enable us to work on other key positions in the draft or just pick the best available at that spot. I like it.

I bet that's what happened.

We've only signed people this offseason when they've come in for a visit.

McKinley had to have left KC a week ago. We're probably not getting the guy.

Scott would be a nice addition.
I'm hopeful that we get that sewn up before much longer so we can focus on the draft.

Yeah but he looks a little small for a DT
