Sammy gave us steady if unspectacular play & he is a solid pro IMO, but i think i will manage to sleep tonight.

Bring on the youth.

Let's make Ty Law our starting safety, move the bonecrusher to LB, and draft a starting CB.

We could just draft Brandon Meriweather who is basically perfect for this defense.

There's always that. Too bad we cut Kyle Turley. We could have been a helmet-wielding force this year.

LOL hey atleast Merriweather wasn't the guy wielding the helmet in the brawl.

I expect him to drop somewhat from that though so if the 1st 2 picks for the Chiefs were Jarrett and Merriweather I'd be pretty happy.

Do you really think Merriweather will last until the Chiefs second round pick?

I think it's possible, he does have some character questions. Someone is going to net 1st round talents in the middle rounds with guys like Merriweather and Marcus Thomas.

yeah i agree. he was ok, but not great. it would have been nice to keep him for depth just in case of injury.

He's from Miami......he's essentially a pefect fit as a FS in a cover 2.

yikes, do we really want pacman junior? I guess if herm has a sit down with him and gets a good feel that he doesn't have the character flaw this appears to be, then ok, but damn I hate reading that stuff.

Sorry to see Knight go, thought he was a solid player, happy to see us get younger too, Damn I love/hate this game......

Hopefully Wesley will be gone during training camp.

I 100% agree that Wesley should of been cut instead of Knight. But, Knight wasn't all that great either?

I say bring on the bonecrusher baby! Sweet, it's Pollard time!

I think Pollard is going to be a STAR in this league.

I really do.

He's a playmaker. One of the best draft picks we've had.

I loved the way he played on special teams last year. The thing I noticed about him is he plays with so much enegry, so much drive, so much passion, so much intensity and emotion, you name it! that the moment he steps on the field I feel as if he lifts up the team.

We needs more guys like him. I just hope that he can become a good safety.

Bonecrusher should be the next great young player on our defense like Jared Allen. I'm totally cool lining up with Boone, Hali & Allen on the line, Edwards, Harris, and Johnson at LB, Surtain, Page, Pollard & Law at DB, just draft me a DT to start before round 3.

03-22-2007, 02:10 AM
i'm so pleased that herm's first draft here turned out well, 3 solid players with high potential(a few more possible)

its hard to imagine, but what if we do as well this draft?

i'd like pollard to start this year as well, but don't you think page is the likely one based on playtime last year?

I thought Sammy was better than average. He could hit and make tackles. Something 2/3 of the team doesn't know how to do.

This move looks stupid when Wesley, Sims, Hicks and Bell are still on the team.:shake:

Gunther's great grocery list of impact players is getting smaller.

This years draft has a lot of big names at FS, but SS isn't as good. KC needs a SS unless they think Pollard improved conserably in the offseason.

I really like Sammy Knight. He brought a veteran leadership to our secondary. But at the same time I am glad that he was released. We have younger, faster safeties and at this point, there is no reason to not let them play.

Next thing I want to see is the release of Wesley and Hicks.

Chiefnj

Pollard and Page are ready to play.

Pollard needs to step it up at SS and Page needs to tackle.

Page actually worries me a bunch. Great instincts but his tackling is atrocious. If you don't hit coming out of college, you usually don't improve much in that area in the Pros.

Just watched it again, reported that the Chiefs are shopping Wesley to Bears, Vikings and Packers.

Wesley told the source that he "would not" play for the Chiefs next season.

Pollard didn't get a whole lot of chances to show anything. But it's obvious he plays with fire and determination, and he's obviously athletic. It's time to throw him into the fire.

And yes, Page showed some poor tackling technique. He also showed he was ALOT better in pass coverage than what we're used to seeing from our safeties.
