View Full Version : Daunte Culpepper a Chief?

From Peter King's column today, sounds like it is just his opinion and not based on anything concrete.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/peter_king/03/26/0326/4.html

I think I'd be surprised if Daunte Culpepper suited up for Miami this year. I could see him in Oakland, Kansas City or Detroit, though. I think power-of-positive-thinking Herman Edwards would be a good coach for Culpepper, who needs some of that right now.

No, thats Michael Vick.

Culpepper has had a few good seasons. If it wasn't for Mannings record setting TD season, Culpepper would have won the MVP.

Since then he's sucked though.

The Dolphins dealt with a year of him being injured and playing before he was ready.....He had a severe knee injury and was on the field before he ever should have been.

If they wanted to give me Daunte for Trent I'd go for that the odds of him turning it around are better than a 6th round pick turning into a great player.

Familiarity or comfortability with a coach is probably the most likely reasoning. Culpepper is alot more on the fly type of QB, and Cameron runs the offense we've been running so he probably doesn't view Culpepper as a great fit for him.

Now if Herm wants to go with this simple offense and just let things go then Culpepper fits into that sorta offense.

Mr. Plow
03-26-2007, 09:57 PM
Why do we need a QB with a strong arm, aren't we just handing the ball off to a RB?

That's not a good enough reason to get rid of "an almost league MVP" and replace him with a 38 year old guy.

There is a reason nobody wants this guy around. I'll bet he ends up being released outright.

Moss didn't play that year? or did he? which is it?

Moss played 13 games in 04 and had 13 TDs...more TDs than he had in '99, 01, and 02....

without Moss he has a 74 QB rating and a 2-1 INT/TD ratio...plus he does that gay arm rolling thing...

He played 13 games in 2004, but he was injured and played only a few snaps in a number of those games (4-5?). It was essentially, a half season for Moss....despite suiting up for 13 games.

I'm not a huge Culpepper fan either, but if Green is gone...and that price is right, and Croyle isn't ready...I'd just as soon hand him the reins for a full season (assuming his knee is finally healthy) as to Huard. JMHO

Brock

Looking at those 2004 stats, it appears he put up monster numbers against very weak teams, and when they played somebody good, he threw multiple picks. Also, the games Moss didn't play in or didn't even suit up for, the Vikings lost the majority of. I mean, if that's a great season for a QB, whatever.
