LOL, already mentioned in the main Trent thread on the first page and it looks like Carl told the media that the Browns were in, while on Monday (2 days earlier) the GM of the Browns told the media that they would not aquire a QB by trade or Free agency. Only Draft.

Exactly like you said. It wasn't a fair shot.

Besides, what rookie QB doesn't get rocked? They all have to go through it.

It's pretty much our only option. Huard could win the starting job but this team will never be a consistent playoff contender behind him or the post-concussion Trent Green.

Gotta rebuild the team around some young players. If Croyle is the guy, great! If not, then we have to keep looking.

And people thought Bill Walsh was a moron for drafting Joe Montana with the last pick of the Third Round back in 1979. And making him the starter in 1980.

Last I checked, it worked out pretty well.

Tom Brady was a R6 (?) pick.

Tim Couch is out of the league, I think.

Draft position is not a determining factor in how good/bad a guy is gonna be.

Neither is attempting 7 passes in mop-up duty.

Give the kid a ****ing chance.

Don't get me wrong, I love Tent, but why would so many teams want him? He's coming off of a rocky end of a season in which he was injured during most of. Isn't he getting old? How many years do people think he has left? What kind of contract can he look at getting?

ChiefsCountry
03-29-2007, 11:19 AM
Why are people concerned about Croyle being the starter? He was a fine QB at Alabama and made that team better. It was a pretty sorry team that he carried. Most scouts had him as a first round talent but due to injuries in his past and his build made him slip to the 3rd.

His WIDE RECEIVERS were sub-par, but overall the Chiefs had great receivers - Tony Gonzales, Priest Holmes and Tony Richardson were/are deluxe, and they carried Trent Green.

No dumbass.

Those are only 5 examples of current, or very recent, starting QBs that either led their teams to a SB, or been very productive.

Bart Starr was a 17th round pick.
Johnny U was a semi-pro QB.
Len Dawson, although a a first round pick, didn't get his chance until the AFL came calling.
Warren Moon, undrafted.
Dan Fouts, 3rd round.
Ken Stabler, 2nd round.

Again, these are just off the top of my head.

You could do some research and find plenty more.

Only an idiot who doesn't have a ****ing clue thinks that only first round draft picks are the only QBs who succeed in the NFL.

And just so we're clear, dumbass, I'm calling you an idiot without a ****ing clue.

Yes, a trade of green to the raiders will only hurt us for a year or two at the tops, and we could do well with thier fourth, it's almost as good as a three.

Browns | Savage confirms interest in Green
Fri, 30 Mar 2007 09:20:14 -0700

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage confirmed Thursday, March 29, that he has spoken with the Kansas City Chiefs regarding QB Trent Green. In an e-mail response, Savage said the team's inquiry was "due diligence to check on a player who might be able to help us. Nothing imminent at this time."
