A water main broke above my office and dumped 2 or 3 inches of water. I wasn't there at the time. To make matters more interesting, I habitually keep papers piled on my desk at least 6" deep, plus several other stacks on shelves, on the floor, on file cabinets, etc. Luckily I had my lap top with me, which is really the only thing that I truely could not replace. Now there are men with giant vaccuum cleaners and fans working the place over. They'll have to replace some of the ceiling too. The office next to mine had the light fixtures knocked out.

So for now I'm a flood refugee.

PS. Just heard that they believe the water will cause the floor tile to loosen and it will have to be replaced. It's asbestos. I might be a refugee for a prolonged period of time.

I guess I'm lucky the problem is at work where I have minions to deal with the worst of the problem. I'm definitely lacking in minions at home.

I do have a water problem at home too, though. I had a leaking facet in the kitchen. Some floor boards under the linolium ended up warping before I found the leak. Now they need to be replaced. I think I'll lay some type of tile down when I get around to fixing it.

Keep an eye out for this guy. You don't want him finding your stuff.

So that's what was in the file cabinets and why all your papers were on you desk.

What really sucks is that it's been basically raining cats & dogs all week and will until Sunday. I've been waking up 4-5 times a night to make sure the damn thing isn't leaking. I've got a temp fix out there now that seems to be working. This weekend I'm going to get something permanent down to make sure this crap doesn't happen again.

FEMA is on their way with a trailer and a credit card for your use.
