Started out funny, but then it got boring and lame.

Sometimes you just can't outdo the classics.

That was pretty funny.

Jim Henson picture in the background while "everyone I know, goes away in the end."

whacking to Miss piggy, blowing chunks into the tolet.

I was amused......

You say poor Kermit, but he says poor you.
For as a puppet he doesn't feel like we do.
Kermit doesn't feel pleasure or pain like us,
but don't be misguided to think he's missing out.
It's not pleasure that drives this crazy world,
but it's the pain and agony that it's all about.
No, he is a puppet and can't feel like we do.
You say poor Kermit, but he says poor you.

Hurt is one of my favorite songs. Love the Johnny Cash version... the NIN version... meh. The kermit version... brilliant.

That's the darkest song I've ever heard. Who originally performed it?

Trent Reznor of NIN wrote it. NIN and Johnny Cash have both recorded it. I have a fascination with the song. Not to be melodramatic but I felt like it was "my song" a few different times in my life. It speaks to me in a weird way. Satisfys my dark side I guess. I won't go on.

"Hurt"

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focused on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Johnny Cash song here...

And from wikipedia...

"Hurt" is a promotional single from Nine Inch Nails' 1994 album The Downward Spiral. "Hurt" is often hailed as one of Trent Reznor's best, most introspective pieces of songwriting.

In 2002, "Hurt" was covered by Johnny Cash to great critical acclaim; it was Cash's final hit before his death. Its accompanying video, featuring images from Cash's life up to his final months, was named the best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and Country Music Awards. Cash's video was directed by Mark Romanek.

I like them both for different reasons, but a good song......

here's JC's video,

(I didn't think it was up there before, just the song - or else I just couldn't get it)

Cool. Thanks for posting that. Haddn't seen it in a long time.

I like both versions too. Something about JC's voice in his old age just makes the song resonate more for me than NIN's. It's a painful song and that makes it sound more real to me I guess. Knowing it was the last thing he did before he died gives it an eery, magical feel too.

that's why they're both good, NIN wrote it and you can tell he sings it with the pain he felt to write it, then what you said about JC makes his good.

I noticed that Trents version referenced a crown of Sh*t and Cash's a crown of thorns.

Just hadn't noticed that before.......
