This has been building for a week - it was all over our premium forum. George visited KC on Friday and spent the night. Pretty nice move by Carl.

I don't see any better QBs out there.

This might mean the Green deal is imminent.

In other words, Warpaint's about as reliable on April Fool's Day as they are the other 364.

the deal was signed on April 1st 2007.

The Chiefs agreed Saturday night to a contract with quarterback Jeff George.

Yup.... Pro-Bowl experience at back-up for a low price.

Hell, as long as Croyle stays healthy, he is in a win-win situation. With Trent gone (or leaving, being cut, ect...) he is more than likely the starter AND he still gets to learn from a damn good QB.

Expect a sign and trade of Huard when a starting QB goes down with inury somewhere around the league.

If there were any truth to this stupidity, then it would've been the worst FA signing in the history of free agency.

I think Turley was worse last year. George is just a backup.

Yeah, signing a 40 yr old QB that hasn't thrown a pass in 6 years would be better than signing a guy that was just two years removed from playing.

Nick "The Erroneous One" Athan just announced it on the radio!

Rhonda Moss is confirming the story.

Jared Allen doesnt care and went off to go have another beer.

I like how they put Nugent's name on this one. That's how I knew it was an April Fool immediately. Like Nuge would be given the opportunity to report on any actual big news out of Arrowhead. Heh.

The weird thing about that thread, they believe that the Raiders are actually thinking about signing him.

The Chiefs corporate Charter says " The Franchise shall sign no players with two first names." i.e. Jeff David, Billy George, Sally Jessee, Whitney Jesse, George Jeffery, and so on.

I think this has it covered.

Hope you folks got a hoot out of this. The Broncos and Raider fans actually bought it hook line and sinker - in fact, I think the Raider fans are still buying it. I actually wrote this but we put Mike's byline on it because we thought that would be more believable.

That's BS. We didn't sign Jeff George!

However, we are in talks with a former Super Bowl Champion, Jim Plunkett........
