HOLY SHIT

I was working in an oak furniture warehouse, building chairs and tables all day long. I remember bringing eating my lunch when one of the empty 18 wheelers backed up and ruined the interference on the radio. At first I thought I heard it wrong, but then they announced it again on 98.9 I remember I thought about one thing....

"Man, I hope Dave Groll takes over"

then I heard what happened...and knew Cobain had been murdered by COurtney, he loved his daughter too much to kill himself.

write it down"

What is that supposed to do?

Don't really understand what one has to do with another.

Let me explain it this way:

I had a radio career from 1986-1999 - I participated heavily in the scene, I went to Foundations Forum each year, NAB, etc plus I once even worked at 3 radio stations a day at one point. I played drums in local bands and knew everybody. The radio thing, we took phone calls all day, obviously (that's a big part of radio, taking calls) I read trade magazines, geesh I even watched that sorry ass MTV, I know what I saw and what I heard. If you feel like I should apoligize for appearing to generalize, I am sorry for that, but I am not going to provide links and "go JAZ", geesh. I pretty much knew the word on the street and all I heard at the time was "he's our John Lennon" "not since John Lennon has music lost..."

So, I don't know what your problem is with bringing DC here, it's just my way of dealing with the freaks over there, I will not change that. but i don't think it has anything to do with a this thread, besides dude was headed in a direction that was going to blow Kurt's legacy way out of proportion, in my opinion - but I bowed out of the conversation
I for one am fine with disagreeing with that assessment. I am passionate about music, what can I say? Can't blame a guy for speaking his mind.

I remember hearing nirvana for the first time. My older cousin and I would hang out all the time after school he was 18 I was 11 or 12. He would bow down to van halen stevie ray vaughn all the greats. Then Smells like teen spirit came on and he was like watch this shit.... You can't understand the words. I knew something was changed that instant. That was the first time i can remember on a video mosh pitting stage diving. Oh the flannel shirts, the dirty long hair tucked into a ball cap, some courdery jeans, thse were the days. I wore a pearl jam t shirt that said 9 out of 10 kids prefer crayons to guns. Sorry, wrong. You couldn't have replaced Cobain in Nirvana, but you sure as hell could have replaced Grohl.

Cobain was Nirvana, there's denying that fact. If Grohl had replaced him, it would be the Foo Fighters.

Ever heard of "Average band"? Hell, Grohl doesn't even play drums in that band.

This is not true. Dave played all the instruments himself on the first Foo Fighters record and didn't enlist Taylor until the third (he was out with Alanis). But Dave still plays the drums from time to time on the FF records.

if it wasnt for Kurt u wouldnt even know Dave Grohls name and there would be no foo fighters. . and thats a fact

That's a ridiculous statement. Dave Grohl is obviously a talented musician and a great and very fluent songwriter. Considering that just about anyone who had a band in Seattle from 1990-1994 got a record deal, Grohl would have certainly broken through on his own at some point. He also wrote lyrics and recieved royalties for writing music with Nirvana.

Grohl's probably the in-demand rock drummer around right now. And contrary to his "Rock God" status, Nirvana wasn't worth two sh*ts before they signed with Geffen, who hooked them up with producer Butch Vig. Butch help to shape and produce Nirvana into the band they became because if you listen to Bleach, you should be able to realize that there's just about nothing in common with that "Demo" and Nevermind.

Mr. Flopnuts
