The first of June we're headed to Branson from Iowa. Any cool places to stop on the way??? I know we'll be stopping to get some Gate's BBQ in KC and we'll go to Lambert's Cafe and the drive-through animal park in Springfield. Any cool family places to stop between here and there?

There's some restaurant that sells "throwed rolls." I've never been there but have seen their billboards 500 miles away from their location. That's all I got.

Hey, I'm surprised you don't like that place. Gates is the one place I can think of that, even at your age, you could still hear those crazy bitches welcoming you and offering to take your order. :)

It is fast food right down to their frozen french fries. Go to Bryant's or Jack's Stack for real KC BBQ.

I've lived in Springfield my whole life, and I don't think I've ever been to Exotic Animal Paradise. Fantastic Caverns was pretty cool, from what I remember.

Are they similar price ranges? How far out of my way would they be on my way through?

Are they similar price ranges? How far out of my way would they be on my way through? Are you coming down I-35? There's an Arthur Bryants at Ameristar Casino that would be right on your way.

Actually, you'll probably be going through the downtown area anyway so you can hit the original Bryants or Jack Stack.

Bryant's is at 17th and Brooklyn. About 6 blocks off of I-70. Last I was there you could exit onto Brooklyn while going east but not west. Get a native to tell you how best to get there.

What's the cave at Silver Dollar City? I remember going there as a youngster and being awestruck by the size of the first room.

If you're coming down I-35 there's a Jack's Stack in the Freighthouse district just north of Union Station. Best BBQ, but that's my opinion.

Yep, Saul says the casino and the racetrack are not as good as the original. Frank White used to go there as a young ragamuffin to get the burnt ends.

It's called Marvel Cave.
I recently found one of the group photos they used to take after the tour. It was taken in 1966, I was about 4 yrs old. Pretty cool.

hit up oceola cheese factory. best beef jerky, in the world. its on 58 highway i think. its a pretty cool place, they have hundreds of types of cheese that you can sample before you buy. we always used to stop and get cheese and sausage and crackers for a light lunch since traveling makes adults not as hungry. i never understood this, untill i got older and started making the drive myself.

Wait, you're recomending a place to see that you've never been to? I think you've been hanging around TK a little too much.

Oh, wait, it's closed and has been for a couple of years? You HAVE been around TK too long!!!

TK doesn't go anywhere without a man who is paying. They'd have to bring Gale.

If you like caves, keep going south into Arkansas and see Blanchard Springs Cavern.

I'm somewhat surprised that Mr. blueballs hasn't suggested that you simply masturbate the entire way, Mr. IA_Chiefs_fan, therefore, eliminating the need for fun stops.

Sedalia, MO and go to The Wheel Inn to get a Guberburger: a hamburger with Peanut Butter on it. Sounds gross, tastes great and is a classic site prepping for demolition. The place is an old drive in that's being torn down this summer to make room for wider highway.

I used to go to the Barber there in Willard. He's the barber that broke me from the "Cool Styling Salons" that I thought I had to go to as a teenager.

I didn't recommend it. It says in the thread starter that he was going. It was just a statement of fact.
