My geek is showing...

I got my mail today, gearing up for a Fellini fest this weekend.

The wife and I will be going for some of the early work... in this order:

I Vitelloni
La Strada
Nights of Cabiria
La Dolce Vita
8 1/2

Also got Amarcord, but it's not on the list for the Fellini fest.

I saw Casanova on the Sundance Channel, and while some of it went over my head, it was entertaining. Which movie should I view next?

Mainly because I don't have it (yet), but also because the fest is leading up to 8 1/2 (1960). Satyricon was 1969.

La Strada is one of my favorites. Fellini's wife is great in that movie, and of course Anthony Quinn as Zampano is classic. The Criterion DVD has a great interview with Scorsese about La Strada.

i'm very partial to 8 1/2, though La Strada is a very close 2nd...

If you like Fellini's wife, you should check out Juliet of the Spirits; it's a little later, in color, which IMO shows fellini's best work..definitely the most colorfully visual director

I had to go with Criterion. The only one in that list that isn't Criterion is La Dolce Vita.
