I got lucky this year. The past two years I had to use my dads income for financial aid because I lived with him. We had to take out loans for both years because he makes way too much money. I moved in with my mom in August and asked the financial aid people if I could use her instead of my dad. They said I could, so I did. I am eligible for a pell grant this year....that kicks ass. I already owe atleast 13K as is.

Why did 'we' have to take out loans if your dad makes 'way too much money'? He must not love you.

I'm pretty sure you have to be on poverty level to get free money.

are you under 23? once you are over 23, and your living on your own, you can probably get tons of money. I got 4 grants for next year, got 3 last year...

Yeah, I'm only 21. So still go off my parents. But next year when I fill it out I'll be married so we're going off hers and mine. Should get tons of money.

In about five years you'll be on here whining about making the payments on the 50 G's you owe.

I thought you posted that you moved in with a girlfriend and some friends, and then got engaged.....

All living in Mama's basement?

You're welcome. That "free" money comes from working Tax payers. Appreciate it and use it wisely.

I'm moving in with her May 4th. I have to finish the semester here before I leave. It's just us two living together.

As long as I can get lucky and get grants the next 2-3 years I'll be in debt 14k when I graduate. If I even got close to 50k I wouldn't go to school anymore.

Very cool, Mr. Dunit35. The money will be worth it when you acquire your degree.

Study hard and introduce yourself to as many young, nubile blondes as possible.

You're already in 13K and you are only going to need another 1K for the next 2-3 years. I need to go take a math class I guess.

that's how it is working out for me, after your a 23 year old poor college student, or a married poor college student, you get grants instead of loans. I think that is what he is saying..

Dude financial aid is the BEST. I've received it every year of college and it is great.
