Anyone know where to get a good GIF editor?

I have some ideas for some animated gifs but don't have anything but a free editor that screws up the work unless you pay $30.00 for their license.

I'm not adverse to paying for it but to offer a free editor for trial with a limit on it and then wreck any gif you build by putting their name on it sucks.

Jasc Animation Shop. But it ain't free. I got it off Demonoid. The free version works just fine though....but you can only use it for 30 days.

It seems you have to register to get on Demonoid but their registration is closed. Anywhere else?
