Leaving it on for 2 years. I miss the weather I just left behind. Back to 200 days a year of rain.

LOL I don't like leaving my comp on overnight. iChief702 recommends an iMac. They start up in like 15 seconds.

I have an iMac and they do not start that fast. Granted, it is 7 years old but so what. :)

Good call there. I just timed the startup. It was 25 seconds from the press of the power button to the desktop. Still pretty good I think.

I dunno, going to keep it as a trophy maybe. The processor is still good, its just a obsolete 754 socket. Maybe i will get another cheap board and build another. Maybe i will give it to my nephew or something.

As have I.... 2 generations of PCs, but they've both been left on all the time.

Daily off/on change of state can be harder on your system than leaving it on continuously.

Leave mine on pretty much all the time. 'Course I do open them up from time to time and dust them as well as check them periodically to make sure all the cooling fans are fine - its amazing how a $2-$3 part can kill a $1k computer and yet so many people don't even think about it.

Why would you leave it on overnight?

No standby mode?

Think of all the moving parts and the heat.
