View Full Version : I have the weirdest medical issues... WTF?

So, I noticed after working out yesterday afternoon that my left forearm was quite swollen. At first, I thought, man, this working out stuff really works, but it kept getting bigger. I gave it a few hours, but the swelling didn't go down. There's a lot of fluid in my forearm, as I can press my fingers into my arm and it retains the imprint for a good 10 seconds before it goes away. I tried ice and compression, but it didn't go away.

So, I went to the doc. Two different doctors had no idea what caused it. I got x-rays and an ultrasound looking for blood clots, but everything was clear. Blood test came back and all my levels were well-within normal. So, I'm now taking a little ibuprofen, trying some heat and ice, and going back on Friday for a followup. And they told me no more working out until it goes away.

WTF?

That happened to my penis once. Ends up that it was a mosquito bite.

I was devastated.

It's a rare STD. Your dick will fall off by morning.

Sorry dude. ;)

Poke a hole in it and let all the fluid squirt out. That's what the vet did to my dogs foot when it got really swollen.

Masturbate with your right hand for a change.

Ultrasound discounted that. Everything is flowing freely and my veins aren't stiff or anything.

It's weird.

I'm sure it's elephantiasis. Have you been bitten by a mosquito in a third-world country in the past few months?

Does Olathe count?

Maybe not for elephantiasis. Rhinoiasis, sure.

I don't think you can get elephantiasis from a bee sting.

That would depend entirely on the diagnosis.

Had a similar experience. Bee stung my hand at a Chiefs game. Next day it was swollen to twice its size. I just masturbated until went away. That was a rough 5 days.

You should have invested in a bottle of lotion.

Well, since I'm hyper-allergic to mosquito bites and I was once bitten on the penis (by a mosquito) as a boy, I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Right, but the question is "why is it happening?"

Maybe the GHB turned your forearm muscle into erectile tissue.

Try rubbing your arm up and down really fast.

Bastard flew up my short leg and stuck me. Kind of embarrassing, considering my mother made me go to the doctor.

That's just awful.

I found a tick on my ball bag once. Came home from fishing and took a poop and noticed it trying to burry its head in between the twins.

Are your lymph nodes swollen under your arm pit?

Google Lymphadenitis. It is probably what you have going on, or lymphedema. Either way it will require steroids to resolve it.

Saw my regular doc this morning. He spent about 20 minutes on the checkup, going over anything the other two doctors might have missed. He said it's obviously fluid, but it's not blood, because there would be bruising by now. It's not a blood clot, because there's no pain. It's not anything to do with my lymph nodes, because if there were an obstruction, he'd be able to feel it. His best guess was that I tore the bursa sac in my elbow (the one that holds all the lubricating fluid) and that it's leaking all the fluid into my arm. I'm supposed to go see him on Monday for another follow-up, or go to the emergency room if there's pain and increased swelling. No more lifting weights for 4-6 weeks until it heals. I can now officially do jack shit as far as exercising goes. ****.

Damnit Doctors! :cuss:

Work out with me. I swear I can get you broken. When I run, I get shin splints. When I play soccer, I injure my patellar tendon. When I lift weights, this happens.

I can break you.

I just get lots of tweaks, which used to heal in days. Now I'm 34 and it takes, well, let's just say "more than days". Right now I'm fighting this swelling in my knee (which I've had surgery on twice over the years; I'm overdue for my next), and minor tweaks in my right elbow and ankle which just make things uncomfortable. I'm not smart enough to stop until I aggravate one or another of them so badly that I can't lift for a month.

Oh, and running outside (not on my treadmill, which I had been doing for months) is why my knee has been swollen for 2 weeks.

Silock

That's what happens to me. Apparently, I push myself too hard and end up breaking.
