View Full Version : Golden State hosting the Mavericks, Game 6

I'm taking the rare opportunity to start a game thread.

This is simply the most electrifying series I've seen since the Pistons beat the Lakers in the finals a couple years back.

If you're not watching this game (starts in 5-6 min), then you hate basketball.

Baron Davis cannot remain on the floor if he's slowed by his hamstring.

He's either guarding Terry or Harris, players too quick to be contained by a hobbling player. He'll become more of a liability than an asset.

Dallas is getting calls that they shouldn't. You're not supposed to get the calls they're getting when you're the road team.

David Stern's work.

Baron or not, the Warriors are better. Best of luck to the Warriors, they're playing the refs too.

I love the NBA, but it's bullshit refs and David Stern are what ruins it anymore.

Direckshun

They're going to have to learn.

Can't do that with one leg. He's not that great of a shooter.

Warriors need to get that lead as high as they can before Dallas starts their inevitable run, probably behind Stackhouse, who's been the only consistent producer for the Mavericks in this series.

Get that lead as big as you can, and when that run starts, buckle down, do what you can to hold your ground, and offensively ride Richardson, Jackson, and Davis to weather the storm and get momentum back.

I doubt this means much to the rest of the playoffs in the frame of the Warriors, they owned Dallas during the year yet struggled with everyone else.

This was their matchup, I wouldn't be shocked if they lost 4-1 to Utah or Houston honestly.

They are on a tear right now. It has to end sometime. This team will come back down to earth. You have to admit though, Hou/UT is the best 2nd round matchup for them. If they can pull through that, they can do anything. Confidence in these playoffs is pretty big.

Just cracks me up for people to be like "Dirk sucks" when they hardly follow the league. These are the same people who'd talk about the leagues thug mantality for 4 hours and why they don't like it for that reason.

There are numerous players who are star caliber that have bad series' it happens, it doesn't mean he sucks.

Wow. This has been an outstanding series to watch. I'm a fan of the Mavs, but the Warriors have been incredible. Nelly has them playing to their strengths. Hopefully, they continue to win. The NBA needed a storyline, and they have a good one now.

I still remember watching Denver close out Seattle in Game 5 back in 94, IIRC. A young Mutumbo holding the ball under the basket summed up that series perfectly. I'm not sure there is as enduring of an image for this one, but it will likely be remembered for a while. Outstanding stuff.

You need to lay off with this superiority act. Chris Bosh has been owned by Jason Collins, but most people do not care about NJ/Toronto. If there was a thread about the Nets/Raptors series people would undoubtedly comment about him.

Reading your post makes me think you aren't much of a mavs fan.I've been a fan since the Ro Blackmon, Fat Lever, Alex English, Herb Williams days. Cuban's willingness to make the Mavs a first class organization is why the Mavs are where they are today. I'm a big fan, but I don't have the regional tie. Growing up with very little in terms of a local NBA team (the Kings had already left), I liked quite a few teams (Mavs, Nuggets, and others, depending on their rosters). However, I usualy ended up cheering for the underdogs (I didn't like the Lakers, Bulls, or Spurs in their heyday, but I enjoy the Bulls now). I cheered for the expansion Heat and the pathetic Kings. Above all, though, I enjoy the game, moreso than any one team. I really wanted the Mavs to win, but the basketball played in this series is hard not to like.

You know, I had to suffer through that whole Shawn Bradley, Chris Gatling, Robert Pack, etc. trade under Nelly's rule. I'm not sure that my fandom should be questioned too much. :(

Everyone loves an underdog! I personally was rooting against Cuban and an 8 vs. 1.

I didn't think GS (Oakland) would win tonight. I thought Dirk found his shot in the last 3 minutes of game 5. I also noticed that Oakland (formerly SF) had trouble closing game 5 and that pressure would carry over.

I thought the game was over when Baron went out in Q1. Ever since BD joined Oakland he has only played in 1/2 the games due to injury (and prior to the trade.)

This must be the biggest Cumbaya moment on the planet. Chiefs fans rooting with Oakland fans together.

It was funny that TNT did not do the obligatory shot of SF across the bay from Oakland as every NFL broadcast does.

At one point they were out of things to shoot so they shot shipping containers. Although those are famous because that is where George Lucas got the idea for the tall robot things that were in Star Wars II (the cranes not the containers.)

I never did not see an aerial of the whole complex though. The game tonight was played as close as Kaufman is to Arrowhead. They never showed the Raider/A's stadium.

Oakland should do well vs. Yao Ming. The last time Yao played Oakland he only got off 4 shots.

Utah and their Euro style should fair much better.

And, as a Laker fan I must ask. Why doesn't Jerry Buss tell his daughter to dump Phil and go after Jerry West? He will figure a way for us to trade Bynum for Garnet!

I don't hate the Oakland Warriors. I was actualy pulling for them although I didn't think they'd win.

If they don't draw Utah they will be in the Western Conference Finals. What makes this unbelieveable is that the West is the NFL to the East's Arena League talent.

I was born in So Cal so I am a Dodger and Laker fan. I am behind enemy lines. Also a Chief fan (attended every Raider game in Oakland since I moved here the same year the Raiders returned.)

After all the great times vs. Sacto I have a hard time hating them.

My Dad was a Ram fan when we lived in LA the 1st time. When I was young he moved us to KC and he became a season ticket holder in '75 (he moved back to OC in '00 and still has them.)

We attended every Chief game so I became a fan. I hated GB so the Royals weren't a choice. Plus, the Dodgers had Garvey, Lopes, Cey, Russell, Baker, Lasorda etc.

Phil Ford and Otis Birdsong packed their bags for Sacto (which reminds me of KC every time I drive through because of the grain elevators and river) so Magic and Kareem were obvious choices.

Go Chiefs Dodgers, Lakers!!!!

(Unfortunately, the team I love the most is the one to not win a Championship in my lifetime...missed it by 4 months.)

Honestly, i think the Lakers. This is the only team that really tries to put together a winning team. Dodgers are like the Chiefs, they put a team out there thats only good enough to compete. I mean, we got a kick ass pitching staff, yet we have NO one in the line up that can hit 30 home runs a year?? When its crunch time that shit will bite the Dodgers in the ass. As it is we have been winning 2-1 ball games.

He did have a humorous post of a hilarious time we had at the MNF game we attended together when the Chiefs beat Oakland on MNF in Oakland in 02 (maybe 03...Brown caught ball on the 1 as time expired)

The sad thing for the Bay Area is that after all of the recent success the Giants have had... the Warriors still have more Championships than the Giants have.

The SF Giants have never won a World Series. The Marlins have won 2 since the Giants moves to SF in the 50's. Even the Angels have one since then!
