I've been trying to locate information, but I'm having trouble. Rep to all who help me out.

Where's a list of the oldest teams in 2004?

2005?

2006?

2007?

If there's a comprehensive list of all the teams in the NFL, I'd appreciate it.

I want to see how Herm's taking the youth movement so far.

Don't know if that will help or not.

The Chicago Staleys are pretty old. So are the New York Titans.

I believe he is refering to the age of the team's players. Not how old a franchise is.

I've heard numerous people state that the Chiefs are the oldest team in the NFL this year.

I've heard that, too. I'm trying to find a comprehensive list with the numbers to either back that up or debunk it.

I want the whole pattern to show, too. From 2004 through today.

Probably was true before Shields retired and if Green leaves. Might still be true after that, but I have my doubts.

You K-State guys don't miss much. I saw this on how to find K-State. From Lawrence, go west on the Interstate until you smell it. Then go north until you step in it.

Nobody's got the goods on this one?

I'm not a statistically inclined person, people. I need an assist on this one.

Chiefs born before '77:

Bober (backup)
Boone
Dunn (backup)
Edwards
Gonzalez
Green (unlikely to return)
Holmes (unlikely to return)
Huard (backup)
Kennison
Law
Surtain
Terry (if he gets suspended he probably gets cut)
Welbourn
Wiegman (may or may not start)

Looks like we have old corners, old tight ends and an old Oline. Vermeil left us an old team but we are actively getting younger under Herm. Two years from now Gonzalez may be the only one on that list who is still playing for the Chiefs.

I've tried every sort of wording I could think of in a couple of different search engines. I'm not coming up with much. Did find a listing of all the players to play at over the age of 40. That was pretty interesting.

Yeah, I'm not finding much either.

And I'm not gonna spend a couple hours crunching numbers for Direckshun.

You might be right but I would be suprised if we had replaced Law, Surtain, and Edwards by that time, two of three sure.

Law won't be here in two years.

I posted this in another thread a week or so ago, and it's only the defensive starters. IIRC, I had come up with a figure that said the defense's average age was 27, and dropped to just under 26 if you replaced Reed and Edwards with McBride and Tyler (since there really are no clear-cut DT starters, play the rotation)

This team has gotten dramatically younger since Herm took over.....

I would fully expect the Chiefs to target O-Line, CB and LB in the next draft, while also staying true to their board.

They may not get all three, but CB will probably be one of their first three picks.

Cutting Gammons probably lowers the "team age" by quite a bit. Wasn't he like 84 or something?

For the NFL it is. For everyone else it is ok. Unless you are still in the 8th grade- then born before '77 is real old. ;)

Just did a quick check of the offensive starters.

Assuming:

McIntosh
Welbourne
Wiegmann
Waters
Terry

Gonzalez
Kennison
Parker

Wilson
LJ
Croyle

Average age: 29.5

Replace Terry with Sampson (50/50 chance of happening?) and Parker with Bowe, the average age drops to 28.7

Yes, but Sampson has the hamstrings of a 90 year old.

OK, then Svitek.

He's six months younger than Sampson. It's a wash.

Any other candidates for RT?

Here's some data from the beginning of 2006. Right now is the most difficult time to assess a team's average age because the roster is very much in flux during the off season. This is a better question to ask in September.

Hey now.... Oakland went to the SuperBowl a few years back when you were calling them geriatrics. Now the Raiders are the youngest team and you are the geriatrics. You should do OK.... might win a game - maybe two...

I did a Google search for:

NFL team age average

and got this hit, which at least tells me that the Pats were the oldest team in the AFC in 2003 (they won the SB that year).

I'm crunched for time, but maybe you can fiddle iwth it some more and take it from here. Or maybe NFL.com has a similar page for every year.
