If you were given the chance to fly in the Vomit Comet for free, would you do it?

Don't be embarrassed.

I'm assuming it's a ride of some kind?

I'm 100% positive I'd paint the walls of the fuselage. Still, I'd have to consider it. I'd want to hear from previous riders what they thought. With nausea medicine I'd definitely give it a try.

Seriously.

Oh.

It's the colloquial name for the aircraft that NASA trains astronauts for microgravity. It flies a number of parabolas, producing about 20 seconds of weightlessness on the downside, then about +3gs on the upside. Repeat.

I rode the Comet in 1994. It was a KC-135. A HS buddy was stationed at Patrick AFB and he arranged the ride.

If you do it, don't eat before you get on, you will see lunch twice unless you are hard core. It took the third arc before I lost it.

Would I do it again? You bet!
